It's been rather quiet on the VDR mailing list lately, but I guess everybody (like myself) is enjoying the summer and engaged in outdoor activities...

Ok, I'll bite..
I assume this idea for recorded program structure might have been considered at one point:
Instead of individual program recordings, store a single recording per channel, with individual program recordings being pointers into this per-channel recording. Not necessarily a continuous 24h recording, only the actual periods for which a recording has been requested, but still in a single recording.
This would make it much easier eg. to continue playback of something, when a recorded program ends, and there's another program scheduled after, that you also recorded.
It could also allow 'browsing back in time' eg viewing the EPG for yesterday, with a recording symbol next to the programs that were actually recorded.
Also, it would avoid data duplication. An 'export to file' function could of course be available.

Yes, though I still, of course, anticipate if each Sunday brings something new to try. ;)

I mean no offense but I absolutely hate this idea. It seems far more inconvenient with no real benefit. I don't see recordings management as a problem to begin with.
I'll bite too :)
I'm still 'waiting' for comments on my patch that I posted on 23-07-12; 11:21

I'll bite three.
There is no summer in England, so no excuses for all this quietness.... On Mon, Aug 6, 2012 at 4:14 PM, Oliver Schinagl oliver+list@schinagl.nlwrote:

Everyone is busy watching America dominate at the Olympics. ;)
ehmm, China maybe...?
Yeah, they're doing well. Really the only competition. Unfortunately for them the US is strong in all the remaining events.
Honestly, I don't care about the Olympics at all. I hate that every channel gives it so much coverage instead of reporting real & important news. Will be glad when it's over.

Well, I am also glad that they are over but for different reason. (even all good things needs to stop in the end)
But, wow, I must say that what a great Olympics there has been. Lucky are those who have been able to attend in live.
After this all real and important news (= depsessing war and economic crisis stuff) will fill up all of the channels.

Now back to business (or maybe next week...). :)
