Hi!
Can I use VDR like a normal sounddevive? My problem: My VDR-box has no soundcard. The sound-output goes from the S/PDIF-out of the FF-card to the DD-receiver. So I am looking for a possibility to play music with e.g. xmms and use VDR to send the sound via S/PDIF out to the DD-receiver. Is there any plugin, that does that job? I know the VDR-mp3-plugin, but when I am running X11 and xmms there is no way use that plugin. Or is there any ALSA-driver which supports the S/PDIF-out of the Nexus? Or can this problem be solved with any setup of streaming or ARTS oder ESD?
Stephan.

Hi,
You can use mplayer to send the audio to your Nexus SPDIF, but to do so you need to mplex some video to the audio stream as long as mplayer is not adding black/fake video stream to mpegpes output. In all case you need to develop a piece of code for either mp3-plugin to create a stand alone application or mplayer to add a video stream. Perhaps I am wrong but nobody have already mention or send anything similar here.
