Hello Klaus,
a miniudev created dev-structure of a 2-card system looks like this:
----------- snip ---------------- #cd /dev #ls -l
[...] crwx------ 1 root root 212, 1 Nov 20 06:43 dvb0.audio0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 6 Nov 20 06:43 dvb0.ca0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 4 Nov 20 06:43 dvb0.demux0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 5 Nov 20 06:43 dvb0.dvr0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 3 Nov 20 06:43 dvb0.frontend0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 7 Nov 20 06:43 dvb0.net0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 8 Nov 20 06:43 dvb0.osd0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 0 Nov 20 06:43 dvb0.video0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 65 Nov 20 06:43 dvb1.audio0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 70 Nov 20 06:43 dvb1.ca0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 68 Nov 20 06:43 dvb1.demux0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 69 Nov 20 06:43 dvb1.dvr0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 67 Nov 20 06:43 dvb1.frontend0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 71 Nov 20 06:43 dvb1.net0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 72 Nov 20 06:43 dvb1.osd0 crwx------ 1 root root 212, 64 Nov 20 06:43 dvb1.video0 crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 1, 7 Nov 20 06:43 full brw------- 1 root root 3, 0 Nov 20 06:43 hda brw------- 1 root root 3, 1 Nov 20 06:43 hda1 [...] ----------- snap ----------------
Would it be possible, that vdr looks for and uses this device nodes directly without searching for a /dev/dvb/adapter.. directory structure?
Best regards Alfred

Why doesn't it create the standard device nodes?

This is the behaviour of the first versíons of udev without a special udev rule for dvb adapters. But now there is a special rule, which reintroduced the default behaviour. So updating to the latest udev package should solve this.

it seems you have a to old udev-installation. install udev > 055 and you should get the "normal" directory structure.
Best regards Mirko

Just create symlinks, wouldn't that do the trick?
