The WinTV-Nova brand has been established by Hauppauge to determine the new cheaper decoderless PCI cards. This is the DVB-T model based on the TDA10045 or the TDA10046 and the SAA7146.
All of them are well-supported. Due to the limitations of the quite oldfashioned hardware there may exist some quirks when using many cards in a system. Tuning is slower compared to competing designs.
In most systems and for average users these cards work satisfactorily, the Linux drivers are well-tested and robust.
For kernel configuration determine your chipset and see the TDA10045 or the TDA10046 pages.
Since 07/2004 there's a new Nova-T that is not supported yet (see below)
PCI-identify
There doesn't appear to be a way to tell which chipset you have programatically. You'll need to take the card out and look.
New Version
This model is based on a Conexant cx2388x. No more patching is needed for kernel 2.6.12, older versions need patches from http://dl.bytesex.org/patches/ - You need to search for more information, not yet supported well.
