[linux-dvb] Could the firmware of the DVB-Nexus card support the extended RC-5 protocol for the internal IR-receiver?

Hello all,

last week I asked the question in the VDR list if the
built-in IR receiver of the Nexus DVB card is able to
understand the new extended RC-5 protocol.

The old protocol consists of 14 bits:
2 start-bits (always equal to 1)
1 Toggle-bit
5 Addressbits
6 Commandbits

Recently Philips extended this protocol to use the
second start bit as inverted 7th comand bit leading
to an additional set of 64 commands which are used
in modern RC-5 remote controls.

Unfortunately the DVB firmware only passes the last
12 bits to the driver, so that these extended commands
do not even reach the driver.

Would it be possible to modify the firmware so that
13 or 14 bits are transfered? This way only a slight
modification of the DVB driver would be necessary to
support the new RC-5 codes as well.

Thanks and best regards
- Uwe Glaessner
