[linux-dvb] rev 1.6 signal-less operation - good news

Just a quick report before I forget:

I have now tested a DVB-s rev 1.6 with a Grundig 29504 frontend / tuner in signal-less operation to decode Nova DVB-T signal for a couple of days. The good news: There are no ARM crashes on a strong DVB-T signal.

On lost / bad DVB-T reception though it can happen that the decoder locks up but usually not fatally. Symptoms then are that the buffer runs to 100% in vdr but it's fine on a channel change. No outcom errors whatsoever, and no ARM crash on continued operation.

Badly broken but not lost DVB-T reception still crashes the ARM, but that's to be expected. When this happens it recovers the picture by reloading the drivers automatically but loses sound on the Crystal DAC when doing so. Sound can only be brought back by completely unloading and loading the drivers. This can probably be fixed in the "driver reload on crash" code.

My verdict is the rev 1.6 is good to go for decoding a signal from a budget card without having a signal itself.

I hope that's useful...
