I have teh following;

[root@localhost dvb-kernel]# ls -l /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/ 
total 1420
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       286720 Jan 30 16:43 tda1004x.bin
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       286720 Jan 30 12:38 tda1004x.mc

I don't see anything in the dmesg output relating to frontend or tda1004x;

saa7146: register extension 'dvb'.
saa7146: register extension 'budget dvb'.
saa7146: unregister extension 'dvb'.
saa7146: register extension 'dvb'.
saa7146: unregister extension 'dvb'.
saa7146: unregister extension 'budget dvb'.
saa7146: register extension 'budget dvb'.

[root@localhost dvb-kernel]# dmesg |grep tda
[root@localhost dvb-kernel]# dmesg |grep front
[root@localhost dvb-kernel]#
