I just had a look at ChainTech's homepage. By reading the specs, it's not 
clear, whether the card provides a MPEG decoder or not. Typically, a FF card 
has a video-out connector, but it might well be, that others provide just a 
MPEG decoder, while the output still has to go via the system's gfx card.

Well, VDR selects the first card which provides a MPEG decoder as output 
device. My budget card doesn't have one, but vdr-xine provides one, so in my 
case, the OSD goes to xine without any further adjustments.

In case, that your card provides a MPEG decoder, VDR will choose it for 
output, although you cannot see it.

Below you'll find a piece of /var/log/messages. Please compare it to yours. 
Interesting lines are:

	found 1 video device

	setting primary device to 2

	switching to channel 1

	transfer thread started

	receiver on device 1 thread started

Most likely, you'll have the line:

	setting primary device to 1

In that case, edit setup.conf to select a different primary device:

	PrimaryDVB = 2
