But I have seen in the kernel that the directory it is pointing to IS
/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/
Indeed in the kernel (in theory at least) you can specify any directory you
want. So again (in theory) providing that the firmware is where you pointed the
kernel to, it should upload it.
In my case I installed the firmware to the default directory specified by
the kernel. (That is the 'doccumentation that I read).
Dmessage gave me an output saying that the kernel couldn't upload the
firmware from /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/.
So being aware of this I became suspicious and pointed the kernel to
another directory which was /etc/hotplug.
On booting I again keep getting the message that the kernel can't upload
the firmware from /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/.
So it seems clear that even though I specified a different location in the
kernel firmware - it is ignoring this and continuing to look in
/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/.
But I have an even deeper suspicion that even though this is where it says
it is looking that this is not the case, that it can't upload it because it
can't see it in the directory it is looking in, wherever that might be.
I have enabled hotplug firmware uploading and full DVB + front end
support in my kernel.
To put it mildly I am kinda at a loss. I don't know how al all to progress
from here.
