[vdr] DVB-C: No picture, no sound

{ linux-dvb.2003-08-01 | linuxtv-dvb-1.0.0 } && vdr 1.2.2 && Siemens DVB-C

 Hi,

I'm using vdr now for quite a while.

Although on my machine it was never that stable you expect from a software
emulating a piece of hardware, it gave me exact high quality recordings to
watch on my monitor or to convert to SVCD and watch the results on DVD/TV.

Last weekend I had too much money - as I was ought to think - and bought a
DVD recorder to avoid the harass with the converting process mentioned
above. And so I decided to also upgrade my software after reading a lot
of articles commending the newest version. What a mistake :-)

 And here I am:
The lirc driver is fine and seems to work 2 to 3 times faster then before.
The DVB driver loads without complaint, runvdr give no significant warnings
but the screen of xawtv remains black and the speakers silent.

I recompiled the kernel with the new options (had'nt followed the
development of vdr for quite a while, there was a lot of change for me!),
built the driver, installed it and the vdr program and got a big, black
 and silent nothing. :-(

The messages where not of much use, although I found some internet
resources about one of the errors I got, but no solution. O.K., the
latest version is not more than a week old. But I hope, someone has a
 fix.
Here the relevant informations, if someone needs more, please let me know:

Here no error seems to be reported. Right?

By the way, why the Technisat driver is loading after recognising a
DVB-Cable-Card? I have not a switch for 'make' to suppress this nor
it is mentioned the necessity to do so!

extract fom /var/log/syslog, starting vdr with runvdr:

After that I started xawtv:
Aug 15 13:42:44 egalize lircd-0.6.5[636]: accepted new client on /dev/lircd
Aug 15 13:42:52 egalize vdr[4414]: switching to channel 1

Because other then switching channels or choosing menu point xawtv
gives me no funcionality, I switched off.
While starting and running, xawtv gives the following messeges to the
starting xterm:
egalize:/usr/local/src/VDR# xawtv&
[2] 4477
This is xawtv-3.72, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.21)
egalize:/usr/local/src/VDR# ioctl: VIDIOCGTUNER(0,,range=0-0,flags=0x0,mode=0,signal=0): Invalid argument
config: invalid value for norm: PAL
valid choices for "norm": "PAL", "NTSC", "SECAM", "AUTO"
ioctl: VIDIOCGFREQ(8418848,625 MHz): Invalid argument
ioctl: VIDIOCSFREQ(268435455,938 MHz): Invalid argument

The line 731 in dvbdevice.c giving the error message above is:
     CHECK(ioctl(fd_audio, AUDIO_SET_MIXER, &am));

The first time doing this, I got the key learning dialog and erverything
seems to be fine.

I'm using alsa, which gave never a problem before for using vdr.
But this can't be the reason for my problme 'no picture and no sound'.
I think, the problem is the driver, 'cause other vdr functionality like
playback and cutting work fine.

Any hints?

Regards Georg
