Hello,

I understand that when the VDR turned toward the plugin concept it was
meant to be easier for the users, meaning that they don't have to patch
anymore.

Well, I guess no matter what the original VDR would look like, there
would _always_ be patches out there ;-)
lol, you're right

For the plugins like mp3, dvd etc. this works very well, but when it
gets to autopid, AC3overDVB etc. you gotta keep patching. Today I tried
with VDR 1.2.3-pre and the patching gave me a lot of rejects. After
manually fixing them VDR didn't compile. Maybe I did wrong but like I
said there were a lot of rejects.

Can't you add these patches to the vdr like in "VDR has autopid already
and has AC3 over DVB already"?

I will implement the autopid functionality in version 1.3.x.
However, this will not simply be "applying the patch". There have
to be some changes in handling the section data first, so that
plugins can also have access to any section data they want to
process.

AC3overDVB is a different story, since I don't do AC3 myself.
Besides, part of this should IMHO be solved in the driver/firmware, not
in the applications.

I think that one more option can make maintaining VDR twice as hard and therefor I respect your choices whatever they may be. I also think that autopid and ac3 are very common patches. I mean a lot of people apply them. Considering this it might be worth a try to include them and raise the standards in Video Disk Recording :)

Thanks

Sebastian
