[vdr] VDR and HTPC was : A modular VDR.

hi.

Mirko, i was thinking of such a feature.

We cannot have better quality from Satellite than using direct MPEG2
files recorded by VDR.

Can someone tell us more on Sigma Designs EM8400 chip support using
DVBAPI ?

I know it not an opensource project but it would be nice to benefit from
this driver to adapt VDR.One idea i had was to change DVBAPI calls in
VDR for MPEG2 output by the same APIs Calls form the driver for this
chip.

This chip is supporting VGA+ YUV progressive signal and is allready used
by some HTPC users.

As this chip is allready found in NetStream 2000 TV card, and may be the
chip used in a future Hollywood+ card, it could be a very good solution.

I am more skeptical about porting DSCALER to Linux as it seems nobody as
yet taken the lead and is not for sure an easy task.

Am i dreaming too ?
