New Nexus FF Ver 2.3 cards

I am running vdr 1.3.22 on kernel 2.6.11.4 I an successful in getting vdr to run. when I try to use diseqc at all the system will not permite it. I have tryed swapping out the card, I have trieve disqc ver 1.0, and 2.0 switches. there are no errors on make for the system, but I cannot get it to switch. If I swap out a 2.3 card for a 2.2 card diseqc swithcing work perfectly. could i get some assistance on this? -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. bitstreamout: fix for crash

HELP::

Hi, I am having a problem with vdr. And the problem is that when I start vdr I have picture on the TV which "rolls". It looks like Nexus-S card initialised in PAL mode. I have picture as on TV as on monitor. On monitor the picture is static with color. But on TV the picture is "rolling" and black and white. I guess that I am missing something. What adjustments should I make? PS: my location is North America/Canada (NTSC TV) Thanks, Andy

vdradmin problem

As I just bought my second dvb-c card and having vdr "ready" I thought I'd try vdradmin. I do everything it says in INSTALL but am having still a small problem. When I browse to http://localhost:8001 Whats On?, Playing Today and Channels does not show anything. On the other hand Timers, Auto Timers and Recordings shows what they are sopposed to (I think). I have selected some channels in configuration and set the buttons to yes in Channel Selections. The picture grabbing does not also work but that seems to be about the rights because I do not run vdr as root. The remote control works also. Some pointers would be appreciated. I have - Fedora Core 3 with 2.6.10-1.737_FC3 kernel - vdr 1.3.22 (with subtitle plugin) - TT-Budget/WinTV-NOVA-C PCI - Technotrend/Hauppauge WinTV DVB-C rev2.X I must say that I am amazed about vdr. Yesterday I made a test recording - 9 channels simultaneously :) And only 633 MHz PIII - Kartsa - -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. How to get blank screen after watching recording?

I'd like to use my vdr more like player for recorded progrmas, and not showing online TV programs unless it is really requested. When I put some sutaple program playing for my kids I don't want VDR to show that crap TV is showing when recorded program ends. Just hitting news may result nigmares and sleeppless night :-( Therefore I would need something like blank screen, or maybe mp3 plugin playing music after show ends. Or image plugin, or nearly whatever else than TV program. Ready-to go patches, or tips for starting points on vdr code welcome. Haven't done any code for VDR, but I'm familiar with C++. Burn-plugin-0.0.5 and AC3 Recordings

Hi list, First my Setup: vdr-1.3.22 burn-0.0.5 Gentoo Linux (Kernel 2.6.10) What I'm trying to do: Id like to burn vdr-recordings with AC3 sound to DVD. I'll get the following error message from mplex: ERROR: [mplex] Can't find next AC3 frame: @ 555776 we have c0f8 - broken bit-stream? I've searched the sourcecode of mplex and found the error message in ac3strm_in.cpp. The error occurs if the AC3-Syncword of the current AC3-Frame is not 0x0B77 and the end of the stream is not reached. I'll assume that noad or vdrsync has currupted the AC3 stream, because i have tried to demux the .vdr's with ProjectX and the AC3 causes no problems with mplex. The DVD i've created with ProjectX was not playable in my Standalone DVD nor with VDR's DVD-plugin. The question i have is: Is it currently possible to burn vdr-recordings with AC3 sound? And how do i do this? regards Thomas

Any progress on an XBMC frontend to VDR?

First off I need a disclaimer. This will be a bit of a rant which will hopefully let me vent some frustration and maybe if I'm lucky discover some useful information. --- Start of RANT --- If you care about how your home theater setup looks and how hard it is to maintain then having a PC as a central part of it is an AWFUL thing. Don't get me wrong, VDR itself is great but there's just no way to make a PC as practical as something like an XBox as the actual physical front-end. and believe me.. I've tried. I've tried so god damn hard that I'm close to losing my mind. I've sunk thousands of hard earned dollars (that I couldn't really afford but determination does awful things to your finances) into trying to make a PC integrate well into a home theater setup. Today I nearly threw the fucking PC through the wall in frustration. I recently purchased an XBox solely for use to playback xvid's and DVD's (integrating as many functions into one capable unit as possible GREATLY simplifies things for some users such as my parents) and with a remote control it cost me less than any single component I purchased for the PC (of which there were many). In my humble opinion maintaining a server which isn't trying to pretend to be a PVR that fits in well with home theater gear would be much, MUCH simpler and cheaper. And an XBox connected to a network with such a server on it would make for an extremely cheap and powerful front-end that doesn't require any thought to be put into hardware, just software. Using the XBox for watching DVD's and xvids has well as listening to music has been a revelation. It starts up quickly, it turns off with the press of a button. If anything locks up you can turn it off, then on and reload the interface faster than a PC would take just to turn off. If digital TV (including recording) could be made this easy and combined with the other features great features of XBMC then it would be unstoppable and only lacking in the HDTV department (next XBox for that I guess). This is an unplanned post and hasn't been fully thought out. It's just something I needed to get off my chest. Any pointers to things which aren't too complicated which could help me get what I'm after would also be appreciated. Also please not that there is no suggestion as to how to make a PC more user friendly in a home theater setup would be useful. The Xbox already does everything right in that respect at a fraction of the cost. --- End RANT --- To sum things up I'm not asking for VDR to change into something else (unless that's necessary for this sort of thing to even be possible but I doubt that). All I really want to know is if any work on an XBMC frontend to VDR ("My TV" anyone?) is being done by anyone anywhere. Is it possible? Why or why not? P.S. I suspect the primary problem is Microsoft and the proprietary nature of the XDK. This prevents the sort of people who would normally work on such things from even contemplating them. Is this a reasonable guess? Might this change once an open-source development environment is made available (work on such a thing is being done).

Fujistu Simens DVB-C - analog module support.

I know that this has been discussed before but my ISP has blocked the archives domain for some odd reason, I lost also all links to dutch websites, but heck , that's another problem. My HTPC is finally almost finished, based on aopens i855 mobile micro atx board, a celeron mobile 1400. I can choose between two setups: 1) The ones that needs more power: Hauppuage DVB-S Rev 1.3card : for digital sat Hauppauge DVB-C card : for digital cable Hauppauge PVR-350 : for analog cable 2) one that needs less power and produces less heat: hauppauge DVB-S Rev1.3 Siemens/Fujitsu DVB/C with analog module installed. It's abvious that the second solution would be a better choice but I wonder if this analog module does it's work now or not. If not, then I still have two choices. 1) stick to solution 1 on linux platform 2) stick to solution 2 on windows platform (bweeeek)
