Wakeup from openwrt ?

Hello, for some unknown reasons my computer don't always wakeup correctly with nvram-wakeup... I would like to use my openwrt router to power up the computer with wol. Please make sure you have backup copies of all your configuration files, and verify carefully that your timers will be set to the correct channels after switching to this new version. Flag support for recordings

Hi there, I'm happily running VDR (great software!) which is used by several members of my family. We often encounter the problem, that we have recordings around that nobody feels responsible for and don't want to delete them because someone else might still want to watch them. So from time to time we need to go through all recordings together and decide what can be deleted. This is also a solution of course, but I came up with another idea, that I'd like to share here as others might find it useful too: The basic idea is, to make it possible to set different flags on a recording. So every member of my family gets a flag (I use single letters) which whom he can 'flag' a recording as "I'm interested in this, do not delete". After watching, he deletes his flag and if no more flags are set, the recording can be removed safely. Of course you can also flag a recording for someone else - say, if you think it might be of interest for that person. Now, I'm not familiar enough with the vdr code to implement something like that, so I went for a workaround. The flags are simply noted in the title of each recording, like so: -ku- My Recording here the 2nd and 3rd flags are set (k and u), I use hyphens as placeholders for unset flags Flags can be set and unset acceptable convenient by renaming the recording (you need the easyinput patch for that). Of course new recordings should also contain the right set of flags. We mostly use vdradmin to create new timers, so it's easy to quickly prefix the title of a new timer. To also support auto timers, I made a small patch to vdradmin, which enables you to specify a flag block that each timer, that is create by this auto timer, is to be prefixed with. This is a very useful addition as you can see which recordings are created by what auto timer (no more: "Is that your recording?" "No, I don't think so."). :-) The patch is against vdradmin-0.96 and can be found here: http://www.informatik.uni-oldenburg.de/~jav/vdr/flagmod.vdradmin096.patch.t… I publish my home-made 'flag support' here, as others might find it useful too and also in the hope, that someone might pick up on the idea and implement it in a proper way someday. :-) Regards, Jan

VDR crashing when learning remote

I have been testing out the various ways of using my Nexus-S grey remote with LIRC and InputLIRC. The only way I can get either LIRC application to work is if I load the remote keymap after loading the dvb drivers with av_loadkeys. But, there seems to be a problem with learning the keys after loading any keymaps. After I train the remote with all the keys I want to use, I try to save the settings to remote.conf and the VDR just stops and crashes. Is anyone else having trouble learning the remote with vdr-1.4.0? I am using remote-0.3.7. The keys are responding, but the problem seems to be after I train the remote keys and goto save it. Xine-Network -- is it still out there or is there a better solution?

I am currently using an older version of VDR -- 1.3.40. It's been stable and working but now I want to move to the latest stable version. I use xine-network to access vdr from a remote computer connected to my TV. I noticed xine-network hasn't changed with the new apiversion and such and I haven't seen much talk about it so the question is for a budget card setup, is that still the best way to go or is there other plugins that will do this for me? Analog plugin -- example of channels.conf for NA

Can anyone help with the channels.conf for Rogers/Canada for the analogtv plugin? The plugin wants frequencies but not sure how to find out what those are. Is there a scanner or something that can be used? Thx Norm

Convert .* video to .vdr format - how?

Hi, how can I convert a video file to the .vdr file format? Can I use transcode or mencoder for that? I know there are several tools to convert from .vdr to something else, but I want it the other way round and convert "something else" to .vdr to watch the video with vdr, later. My vdr has a FF card and I know about the mplayer plugin, but my system is too slow to convert most video files to mpegpes while playing it. But I wouldn't mind preprocessing a video file to watch it with vdr, later. Regards, Hanno

Yes, it's still out there. I'm running VDR 1.4.0 with xine-network 0.7.9 from http://home.vr-web.de/~rnissl and the xine-plugin-0.7.7-network.patch from x-vdr. It works exactly like a "local" vdr-xine. /Magnus

Keeping the list of plugins up to date

While updating http://www.cadsoft.de/vdr/plugins.htm I found several broken links. Maybe the authors of those plugins could tell me where their projects have moved to, or whether they have been discontinued. If there are any plugins missing on that page, please let me know. I do follow the announcements on the VDR-ML, but maybe something slipped through. In order to be listed, I need the author's real name and the URL of the plugin's homepage (not just a download link to the latest version, because I would have to update that with every new version of the plugin).
