[PATCH] osd GetBitmap() causes infinite loop

Hi there The softdevice plugin was getting stuck in an infinite loop because of a bogus return from the GetBitmap() function in osd.c. This function should always return NULL when the 'Area' argument is greater than or equal to 'numBitmaps'. Hello my Broadcasting format display is 4:3 . i install vdr-1.7.33 + softhddevice plugin now i go to Menu -> Setup -> DVB -> Video format and change :4:3 to 16:9 and press enter but don't chage video format it is 4:3 . why setting don't work ? do vdr support 16:9 format video ? sorry for english

xineliboutput reports "no signal" when started on a paused playback

Hi All, When I play a recording and pause it, then i see the screen is standing still. Then I press escape to exit vdr-sxfe. Then I start vdr-sxfe again. Now i see the "no signal" screen. I expected to see the screen standing still at the position I paused it. Virtual VDR directories for surround and HD recordings.

Hi, I have been thinking for a while about virtual VDR directories holding symbolic links to recordings that are stored elsewhere using different sort criteria. I have been a VDR user since 2000 http://www.tvdr.de/cgi-bin/vdr-counter.pl?action=show&number=3 and I have recorded a lot since then (9245 recordings), so some kind of structure is required to find things quickly. For example, I have top level folders for various genres in my /video directory. So far, I decide after recording and cutting into which folder I move the recording. It might be better to have them all on one big RAID and create symbolic links in /video, so I can find an action comedy both in /video/Action and in /video/Comedy. Regarding the genre, I have managed without that feature. However, many German TV stations are now broadcasting in HD, sometimes with 5.1 surround sound. It is really hard to find these high quality recordings directly among my 9245 recordings. So I have written a little Python tool that creates "virtual" recordings in a different folder structure from my "real" recordings using symbolic links. This is done by creating top level folders /video/Surround, /video/HD, /video/Surround+HD and linking matching recordings into these keeping the original folder structure intact. Maybe somebody else finds this useful, so I am attaching the code. It only considers recordings that are cut (having a % in the name). Please note that the tool removes any existing folders /video/Surround, /video/HD, /video/Surround+HD before re-creating them. Use at your own risk. Carsten.

[ANNOUNCE] Javascript VDR client for motorola VIP

Hi, Because there isn't a video output plugin yet I'm working on a javascript client so I can use this box with VDR. Goal is a fully working VDR client, like VOMP. On the VDR site you need streamdev. Right now the basic function are working. Watching, zapping, EPG, now/next guide and teletext. DVB/Teletext Subtitles are build in the firmware of this box. EPG works only with my channels list, box filters EPG on language. Based on my channellist the language is switched 0-50 Dutch, 50-300 English, 400-550 German. But it can easily switched to german or other language only. Some auto switching must be made, hints? Next will be the recording and timer access part. Greetz from Holland, Martin

All calls to atof() have been replaced with the new function atod(), which makes sure the string representation of a floating point number using a '.' as decimal point will be handled correctly, even if the locale in use expects a ',' as the decimal point. Plugins that read floating point numbers from their own configuration files will also need to use atod() for this, or use a method of their own (this is not necessary if values are stored in VDR's setup.conf file, because VDR takes care of this). The reason for these changes is that floating point numbers presented to the user shall be displayed in the way defined by the current locale (suggested by Stefan Blochberger). If you use plugins that store floating point values in configuration files of their own and have not yet been adapted to this change, you should set export LC_NUMERIC=C before running VDR. Otherwise your plugin's configuration data may not be read or written correctly. - The new functions SetItemEvent(), SetItemTimer(), SetItemChannel() and SetItemRecording() of the cSkinDisplayMenu class can be reimplemented by skin plugins to display these items in a more elaborate way than just a simple line of text. vdr on AllWinner A10, possible or madness?

Hi All, I now have a standard PC running arch linux and VDR. This works ok, but it uses between 80-150W of power. Much heat and noise, and cost :-). Therefore I was looking for a more power-eficient system. Is it possible to run archlinux and vdr on a system like this? Problem solved. After reading on the mailing list I found a item about an other problem with uclibc. Used from the BSD patches the part about sscanf() now it is working. (http://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/head/multimedia/vdr/files/patch-vdr-1.7.28_…) And an other cheap HD platform for VDR is here. (Motorola VIP19xx sold over here in Holland for 5 - 25 euro.) No frontend module yet but the VDR backend is running. Martin
