Attached is the updated Swedish translations. If there are other Swedish speaking readers/users I urge you to review the translations added. Especially adding the texts for the adaptive skipping strings proved to be tricky. - Magnus

The other (more important) reason for this additional developer release was the change in the return value of cOsd::RenderPixmaps(), which is very important for plugins that implement their own version of cPixmap, e.g. for use with fast graphics hardware. If there are no more serious bug reports, the final version 2.2.0 of VDR shall be released on February 19, 2015, which marks the 15th anniversary of VDR. So please test this developer version intensely and report any problems you might encounter as soon as possible. They normally jump between editing marks, but with this option set to 'yes' they will do adaptive skipping. - The new command line option --chartab can be used to set the default character table to use for strings in the DVB data stream that don't begin with a proper character table indicator (suggested by Christopher Reimer). The old mechanism of using the environment variable VDR_CHARSET_OVERRIDE still works, but is now deprecated and may be removed in a future version. The value given in the --chartab option takes precedence over that in VDR_CHARSET_OVERRIDE. - cOsd::RenderPixmaps() now returns a pointer to cPixmap instead of cPixmapMemory (suggested by Thomas Reufer). This is necessary to allow plugins with derived cPixmap implementations to use this function. Plugins that use this function with cPixmapMemory now need to add a dynamic cast to the call, as in cPixmapMemory *pm = dynamic_cast<cPixmapMemory *>(RenderPixmaps())); They also need to call DestroyPixmap(pm) instead of "delete pm" to properly release the resulting pixmap after use. The dvbhddevice plugin has been modified accordingly. - A cPixmap with a negative layer no longer marks any portion of the OSD's view port as "dirty" when drawing on it. This may improve performance when drawing on a hidden pixmap, because it avoids unnecessary refreshes of the OSD. - Added a missing initialization of "panning" to the constructor of cPixmapMemory. - Updated the Dutch OSD texts (thanks to Erik Oomen). - Updated the French OSD texts (thanks to Régis Bossut). - Fixed the German translation of "Zap timeout". The behavior of these two functions is now exacly as described in the header file. Editing marks that are placed at exactly the same offset in a recording are now preserved in the cutting process. - Changed the naming of "binary skip mode" to "adaptive skip mode" (suggested by Rolf Ahrenberg and Derek Kelly). - cDvbPlayer and cReplayControl now use the same list of editing marks. This avoids inconsistent behavior with the "Skip edited parts" or "Pause replay at last mark" functions when the editing marks are manipulated during replay. - Fixed setting an empty recording name or folder to a blank in the "Edit recording" menu (reported by Christoph Haubrich). - Added a confirmation before renaming a recording to its folder name (suggested by Christoph Haubrich). - Modified EntriesOnSameFileSystem(), so that it returns 'true' if either of the given files doesn't exist (to avoid any actions that might be triggered if files are on different file system), and changed handling the 'error' variable in cDirCopier, so that it is initialized to 'true' and will only be set to 'false' if the entire copy process has been successful (problem reported by Christoph Haubrich). - Added the UPDATE-2.2.0 file. DVB-S2 PCIe or USB tuner recommendations?

Hi! I am planning to build a new VDR system for HDTV and DVB-S2. So I am searching for DVB-S2 tuners either PCIe (low profile) or USB. The best tuner would be one which is supported by the vanilla Linux kernel without patching or installing additional drivers. (Installing a firmware file is no problem.) Advice from native speakers needed: To "bisect" or to "halve"?

The next stable version of VDR (to be released on February 19) will contain the functionality from the "binary skip" patch (by Rolf Ahrenberg and Helmut Auer). Since most VDR users probably won't understand what the word "binary" means in that context, we're looking for a better wording for the setup parameters of this function. Currently these are (from the MANUAL): Binary skip initial value (s) = 120 Defines the number of seconds to jump from the current replay … [View More] position in either direction, when pressing the '1' or '3' key for the first time after the "Binary skip timeout". The valid range is 10...600. Binary skip timeout (s) = 3 Defines the number of seconds after which pressing the '1' or '3' key falls back to the "Binary skip initial value". The valid range is 0...10. Setting the timeout to 0 disables the binary mode and makes '1' and '3' always skip the number of seconds configured as the initial value. Binary skip strict = yes When skipping in binary mode with the '1' and '3' keys, the distance of the skip is halved with every key press after the first change of direction. While this allows for locating a particular position in a recording very fast, once you make one step too many in the current direction you have no chance of ever reaching the desired point any more. You will have to wait for the timeout to occur and start binary skipping anew. If this option is set to 'no', the skip distance will only be halved if the direction actually changes. That way, even if you missed the target point, you can still back up to it. On February 19 (less than 3 weeks from now) it's going to be 15 years since the release of the very first revision of VDR. To celebrate this anniversary I'm planning on releasing a new stable version 2.2.0 on that very day. Duplicate channels

Hello, I have a few months old system with vdr 2.0.6. VDR is used only as a backend for xbmc (via xvdr plugin). Everything works fine except for a few lags which I tracked to VDR creating new channels every now and then. When I checked the channels I noticed there are duplicates (there are 36374 channels and many of them are there about 500 times). VDR-2.1.7 added the following: - VDR now reads command line options from *.conf files in /etc/vdr/conf.d (thanks to Lars Hanisch). See vdr.1 and vdr.5 for details.
