There have to be the numbers from 1 to 9 in every row, column and region. In the beginning some numbers are given. These cells are painted with cyan background color. DVB (usb) device hotswapping?

Hi, now that I've moved from pci dvb-c cards to usb dvb-c cards, I started to think what happens if dvb-devices are inserted/ejected when vdr is running. I haven't actually tried what happens, but it looks like hotswapping isn't supported? I guess adding a new device could be done quite easily e.g. by probing new cards. But ejecting a device might not be that easy I guess as there may be device pointers around vdr? This also leads to another problem with (linux and vdr) device numbering, as the nature of usb devices is lot less constant as with pci devices. I noticed that e.g. if you insert 3 devices (and have adapters 0,1,2) and remove the second adapter, then you only have (in linux) adapters 0 and 2. Even if the device is ejected when vdr is not running, it looks like to me (by reading cDvbDevice::Initialize()) that only adapter 0 is detected by vdr, as the initialize loop stops after adapter 1 is not found... Even though this isn't really a problem for most installations, I wanted to start a thread to give this some thought. Teemu

Minor confusion in the manual

-D num, --device=num Use only the given DVB device (num = 0, 1, 2...). There may be several -D options (by default all DVB devices will be used). The way I first read that, to make it use device 1 and 2 and not 3, you would use: -D 1, 2 or: -D 1,2 But it seems you can't put more then one per "-D". You have to use: -D 1 -D 2

update-xxv: Ask for password only once

Hi! I found the three available options for specifying a password in the course of running update-xxv a little bit cumbersome, so I want to share the following patch with you. In addition to the default (no password), -a for being asked for it with _each_ database access (wtf) and specifying it on the command line in clear text using -p, I add a new option -A that asks for a password only once and supplies it to mysql as if it was given with -p. This by itself will not raise overall system security as the password is still given to each mysql call on the command line (and thus can be seen in the process table), however, it’s better to not have it in .bash_history. – Matthias

merging correctly several .ts files to a single ts file or better mkv

Hi, I've been botten by the 2GB file size split and would like to: 1) create a single file. "cat *.ts" > result.ts does not work well because if I watch the resulting file with mplayer, i get out of sync video and sound at the original split location 2) edit the resulting file to remove uneeded time stamp (beginning and end typically) I'm sure the question has been ask 1000 times but using google I cannot find anything that actually works -- eric

Hello! Today some bots, probably from China, brought the projects.vdr-developer.org webserver to it's knees. Because they don't identify them selfs as bots, I finally had to blacklist their whole IP range. I hope everything runs smooth now. Sorry for any inconvenience. Hello List ! After a couple of months I re-implemented IPTV and I'm able to watch http-streams. Using different types of device for the same channel

I don't know if I immagined it, but is there a way to get VDR to use a secondary channel if the first channel is busy? To give an explanation, I have multiple ways a I can receive a channel, through ATSC, or through PVRINPUT or NTSC. I would like to know if there is a rollover system, if the first channel is busy, use the second, then third. It seems I saw something which suggested this was possible, but maybe not..

Adapt Make.config.template to VDR 1.7.13

I was just wondering, if ifdef PLUGIN CFLAGS += -fPIC CXXFLAGS += -fPIC endif can now be removed from Make.config.template, as the new Make.global cares for -fPIC since VDR 1.7.13. -- Best Regards, Joachim.
