Applying dxr3 subtitles patch to debian packages

I've built a Debian (Lenny) based VDR machine. I installed VDR from the Debian VDR and DVB Packaging Project[1] following the instructions described here: http://www.linuxtv.org/vdrwiki/index.php/DEBIAN_Compiling_VDR_Source_Packag… I had some problems with the packaged dxr3 drivers and plugin, so I manually compiled and installed the dxr3 drivers[2] (version 0.18.0) and the VDR dxr3 plugin[3] (version 0.2.10). Everything is working very well so far except for subtitles - I get tearing and corruption when they are displayed. I know subtitles have a problematic history on the dxr3 device, but I noticed in the VDR dxr3 plugin sources there is a patch for VDR to fix this[4]. My question is, given the way I've installed VDR, what's the best/easiest way for me to apply this patch? Do I have to compile VDR from source myself, or can I somehow modify the debian VDR package sources on my machine and build them with this patch applied? Apologies if I'm not making much sense, I'm fairly new to this. New version of the Webvideo plugin is available at http://users.tkk.fi/~aajanki/vdr/webvideo/ The Webvideo plugin is a tool for browsing and downloading videos from popular video sharing websites, such as YouTube and Google video, using VDR menu interface or a command line client. With the help of the xineliboutput plugin the videos can be played directly without downloading them first. Changes: 2010-01-17: Version 0.2.0 - The daemon is replaced by Python library with C bindings. This simplifies the invocation of the VDR plugin and the command line client. - New video service: Vimeo - Re-added support for YLE Areena (requires rtmpdump-yle from http://users.tkk.fi/~aajanki/rtmpdump-yle/index.html). - Youtube: using the official API (except for video pages), this should mean less breakage in the future. Various improvements on the menus.

xine-plugin and vdpau

Hi! I have "nVidia Corporation G96 [GeForce 9400 GT] (rev a1)" what is VDPAU capable. I have loaded xine-plugin and try to use vdr-sxfe in vdpau mode, but no success.. Hi, Last night my system (DVB-S2 Hauppauge card/Liplianin driver/Kerner2.6.27.10 (64bit OpenSuse) /l vdr 1.7.9/xine-ui with vdpau) was working fine, but this morning I cannot watch TV and get these errors. It wasn't very windy last night, but I am wondering what the symptons are if the dish becomes misaligned, or the LNB fails? Unfortunately I don't have another receiver to test it. [ANNOUNCE] VDR available as package in OpenEmbedded and in Ångström

Dear VDR users, VDR 1.7.10 is now also available as a package in OpenEmbedded (OE), a build framework for embedded Linux [1][2]. I thank Henning Heinold who did most of the work to get VDR included and the OE developers to answer my questions on the openembedded-devel mailing list [3]. Around a week ago, Koen Kooi added VDR also to Ångström [4][5][6], a distribution using OE heavily. With `opkg install vdr` it is now as easy as on other distributions to install VDR and get it running on embedded devices which because of their energy efficiency and form factors, e. g. BeagleBoard [7], are predestined for use as a VDR server. The next steps are going to be to improve the packaging in OE and to send some patches to upstream VDR to adapt it for cross compilation [8]. As always especially the developers do not have much time, so help with testing and writing patches is very welcomed. You should ask on the list or on IRC before starting any work though. Since some patches are still pending hopefully it can be avoided that work is done twice. It would be great to get the plugins also included into OE soon. I am thinking about to create a project on projects.vdr-developer.org [9] so I could publish a branch for OE to push from. (I hope this will be more successful than my attempt with the FRC project. It will be revived. ;-)) A short page is available in the German VDR Wiki already [10]. It would be great if someone could add that to the English VDR Wiki [11] too. In my opinion this should be kept short with links to already available information on the Web. vdpau experience

So far getting vdpau to work on Gentoo wasn't that difficult. Overlay vdr-xine was used and then emerged xine-lib-1.2 to bring the library up to speed. After that I pulled vdr-xineliboutput from cvs. Compiled and it worked great especially deinterlacing! Only jaw dropping experience there. I have before got accustomed to using the cropping feature from vdr-xineliboutput plugin. Crop converts a 4:3 input to 16:9 format. In the README it states: VDPAU All video scaling, cropping, and postprocessing options must be disabled if the VDPAU output device is used. De-interlacing can be enabled with command-line option --post tvtime: Examples: vdr-sxfe --video vdpau --post tvtime:method=use_vo_driver vdr -P"xineliboutput --video=vdpau --post=tvtime:method=use_vo_driver" In the mean time, I have seen some patches floating on german speaking forums on how to get cropping feature to work with vdpau. http://vdr-portal.de/board/thread.php?threadid=86804 Does seem to give the impression that it is doable. But I'm having trouble translating that into.. well meaning full non-german speaking end-user noob. Is there anybody that could explain where these patches fit in? I use vdr-xineliboutput, pulled in from cvs and tried to apply the patch xineliboutput-1.0.4-vdpau-support-v8.diff and failed. perhaps command line incorrect? any examples? I don't know how to patch xine-lib either, Gentoo pulls in xine-lib-1.2 from http://hg.debian.org/hg/xine-lib/xine-lib-1.2/ The first line in the diff file for xine-lib is for vdr.h, which I cannot find. The find utility only returns ./xine-lib-1.2/.hg/store/data/include/xine/input__vdr.h.i ./xine-lib-1.2/.hg/store/data/include/xine/vdr.h.i ./xine-lib-1.2/.hg/store/data/src/vdr/combined__vdr.h.i ./xine-lib-1.2/.hg/store/data/src/vdr/input__vdr.h.i ./xine-lib-1.2/.hg/store/data/src/vdr/post__vdr.h.i So I'm stuck, any other Gentoo users here that got those patches working? Location of subtitles

Hi! (VDR version 1.7.10, Ubuntu 9.10) I have "little" problem with subtitles.. Location of them. My TV is FullHD and to get nice menus I have set: Setup - DVB Subtitle offset: 100 Setup - Plugins - xineliboutput - OSD Resolution: 1920x1080 Blending method: Hardware Scaling method: no Show all layers: no Dynamic transparency correction: Off Static transparency correction: Off External subtitle size: tiny DVB subtitle decoder: VDR Problem is that 100 is bigest offset value what can be set and with that value, subtitle are about middle of screen (at left side of course) and not at foot area where they should be. If I change Blending method to software, I can set subtitles to right place with offset 70, BUT then text at OSD is awful looking. -- JJussi

How to seek/play splitted record files

Hi, I want to implement a record player for my UPnP plugin and was wondering how the record files are played by the VDR. I found out that cFileName und cUnbufferedFile may be my friends, but I don't know how to seek a given file offset, if the recording is regarded as a single file. Here an example: I want to seek offset 20. But the first file has its end offset at 15, so the file offset is at position 5 in the second file.
