VDRAdmin-AM with UTF-8 support?

Hi, is anyone working on a UTF-8 version of VDRadmin-AM? I'm using vdr with the UTF8 patch (de and ru) and need to always select UTF8 manually in the browser to avoid seeing the Ã stuff. Looking at the html files in template/default/, I see everything is hardcoded in iso-8859-1, but that should be a configuration option. Setting LANG=de_DE.utf8 doesn't help, it is silently ignored. kaffeine: Invalid section length or timeout

I'm having tuning problems with my nova-t 500 and kaffeine. While doing tuning with AUTO and both positive and negative offsets checked, kaffeine reports "Invalid section length or timeout". I'm wondering what that means? Kaffeine doesn't report any channels even though it locks on the signal. I'm trying to tune to BBC at 505833 khz (the official frequency), but for some reason, i'm receiving at 506000 instead. I'm wondering if this is what might be causing the errors, since there might be a discrepancy between what frequency kaffeine locks on and the transponder frequency data? CurrentChannel

Hi! I updgraded VDR from 1.4.4 to 1.5.1 today. Everything works fine, even better :), but there is one thing broken: When I'm restarting VDR (from setup menu), VDR doesn't save CurrentChannel setting. So when it starts again, it switches to channel I have set last time in 1.4.4. Boguslaw Juza

VDR 1.4.5 problem replay old recordings

I have recently upgraded my VDR from 1.3.31 to 1.4.5 ( 1.3 starting from 1.3.20 something ). I have problem with replaying some ( not all ) of the old recordings. When starting replaying, the live TV is freezed and some kind of audio ( at high speed and chopped ) from the recorded material is heard. During my update I've also gone from FF-card output to softdevice. I've tried replaying the recordings with softplay and in that case the video is shown distorted and at a very low speed and with no audio. My setup: VDR 1.4.5 softdevice CVS 20070312 softplay CVS 20070312 FFmpeg version SVN-r7991, Copyright (c) 2000-2007 Fabrice Bellard, et al. configuration: --enable-shared --enable-pp --enable-gpl libavutil version: 49.3.0 libavcodec version: 51.33.0 libavformat version: 51.10.0 built on Feb 17 2007 21:53:00, gcc: 4.1.1 20070105 (Red Hat 4.1.1-51) I haven't yet tested to replay with 1.4.5 and my Nexus-S FF because the card is still in the old VDR machine. Two Satellites - Two DVB-S cards - No Multiswitch

Good day, I want to connect a single LNB pointed to Astra2 and another LNB connected to Astra1 each to a different DVB-S card in the same VDR. Is this possible? Full featured card + budget card

Hi list, Let's say that i have one FF-card (dvb-c) and one budget card (dvb-t) in my vdr-setup. I have connected the FF-card to my TV via RGB-scart. Now, if i watch a dvb-t channel, will the mpeg stream still be decoded by the FF-card and will the picture be sent out to the tv via the FF-card? -Alex

softdevice audio problem. audio repacker issue?

Hi, need some help in locating a decoding issue with old vdr recordings and softdevice. Recordings were done with vdr-1.2.1. They play fine when using ffplay . They play fine when using ffmpeg svn revision 6040 via vdr + softdevice. With vdr + softdevice there is no sound in ffmpeg svn rev 6147. With rev 6398 and newer sound is garbled and a lot of error messages are printed out. A first patch is available on my web page: http://www.udo-richter.de/vdr/patches.html#hlcutter http://www.udo-richter.de/vdr/patches.en.html#hlcutter Though the patch has been working for a week for me very well, it is HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL and should be used with caution. The patch is COMPLETELY UNTESTED and NOT ADAPTED for multiple /videoxx folders. The safety checks should prevent data loss, but hard linking may fail more often than necessary. While editing a recording, the patch searches for any 00x.vdr files that dont contain editing marks and would normally be copied 1:1 unmodified to the edited recording. In this case the current target 00x.vdr file will be aborted, and the cutter process attempts to duplicate the source file as a hard link, so that both files share the same disk space. If this succeeds, the editing process fast-forwards through the duplicated file and continues normally beginning with the next source file. If hard linking fails, the cutter process continues with plain old copying. (but does not take up the aborted last file.) After editing, the un-edited recording can be deleted as usual, the hard linked copies will continue to exist as the only remaining copy. To be effective, the default 'Max. video file size (MB)' should be lowered. The patch lowers the smallest possible file size to 10mb, though this limits the recording length to 10*255 Mb (~100 minutes). A value of 100mb is a good compromise between speed improvement and recording length (~16 hours). The patch must be enabled in Setup-> Recordings-> Hard Link Cutter. When disabled, the cutter process behaves identical to VDR's default cutter. There's a //#define HARDLINK_TEST_ONLY in the cutter.c file that enables a test-mode that hard-links 00x.vdr_ files only, and continues the classic editing. The resulting 00x.vdr and 00x.vdr_ files should be identical. If you delete the un-edited recording, dont forget to delete the *.vdr_ files too, they will now eat real disk space. Note: 'du' displays the disk space of hard links only on first appearance, and usually you will see a noticeably smaller size on the edited recording. Future plans ------------ To solve the file size vs. recording size conflict, dynamic file sizes could be implemented, so that a recording starts with small file sizes, and increases the file size at some point to ensure enough space for huge recordings before 255.vdr is reached. For example, using 32Mb up to 192.vdr and 2000mb from 193.vdr on will give a total of 128 Gb or 84 hours, while using small files for up to 4 hours. To support multiple /videoxx folders, the hard link must be placed on the same disk as the source file. This requires a more advanced linking strategy. Since original and edited copy share disk space, free space is wrong if one of them is moved to *.del. Free space should only count files with hard link count = 1. This still goes wrong if all copies get deleted. For more safety, the hard-linked files may be made read-only, as modifications to one copy will affect the other copy too. (except deleting, of course) SetBrokenLink may get lost on rare cases, this needs some more thoughts. Cheers, Udo

VDR stops replay due to strong wind condition

Hello, I try to watch recored material with my VDR. This is basically nice, but today we have strong wind. And sorry to get rude, but: Es ist so zum Kotzen, dass der VDR meint er muss sich neu starten, wenn das DVB-S signal mal nicht so gut ist. How should I explain my friends that we can't watch the movie, because the perception of the DVB signal is currently bad. Why does VDR exit, when the signal is bad? It's not VDR's Problem, but makes many things different.
