[Announce] Master-Timer 0.7.1

Hi URL: http://mt.citd.de/master-timer-0.7.1.tar.bz2 Intro: Master-Timer is a system for automatic recording of series and movies. Unlike VDR Admin or XXV it isn't a webfrontend for VDR with the added ability to define timers, but a tool which is dedicated for the task of creating and programming timers with the greatest possible power and flexibility. You have to define what/when/how you want to record something into text-configuration files. You should read the README/LIESMICH for more details. Changes: - This release in mainly for the change in the 1.3.44 Version of VDR, which changes the timer-field: Summary to be the AUX-field. The new field "@" in the info.vdr will be taking the data which where stored in the "D" field in earlier VDR versions The only change is in the "done"-functionality to also look for the "@"-field in the info.vdr. If you don't use the "done"-functionality you can ignore this release - I ran README & LIESMICH and sample/torecord through a spell-checker, man i'm bad at writing documentation with proper spelled words. ;-) - clear-vdr.pl didn't work correctly, but it shouldn't be needed anymore anyway. Bis denn -- Real Programmers consider "what you see is what you get" to be just as bad a concept in Text Editors as it is in women. No, the Real Programmer wants a "you asked for it, you got it" text editor -- complicated, cryptic, powerful, unforgiving, dangerous.

Wrong language selected from transmission (YLE2 Olympics)

Hi, It seems VDR chooses the wrong language on some transmission for some reason. I have three favourite languages (i.e,. "Äänen kielet: 3") chosen in VDR: Finnish, Swedish ang english. On the Finnish Broadcasting Networks YLE2 Olympics, VDR chooses the Swedish commentary for some reason, and I need to manually choose the Finnish one every time. I have VDR 1.3.42 (compiled on Debian stable/testing/unstable) and a DVB-C card (Technisat Cablestar2). I live in the Oulu region. Is the problem with the transmission (YLE/OPOY), my settings, or could this be a VDR bug? I haven't noticed this problem on any other channels (like YLE1 and YLE24) when they are transmitting both Swedish and Finnish commentary. Has anyone else here (using VDR in the Oulu DVB-C nerwork) noticed this problem, or the lack of? -- - Ville Aakko

hardware pecularities...

Did anyone notice, that the picture (at least th OSD-portion) becomes unsharp when the card is becoming hotter? This is not just "a bit" - at my DLP i can see the difference easily... Is this a problem of all FF-cards or only certain ones? (i have still a version 1.3 one) I also noticed, that other problems seem to happen more often if i close the case of my system, hell - i'am not speaking of really hot parts, one could still touch it after all. There are visible artifacts on the screen when content is changing dramatically and/or freezes which can only fixed by restarts/reboots, sometimes even having let it cooling down for a few minutes. It is already the second card (first one the MPEG-decoder has died, it still gives a budget-card equivalent), so whenever it finally burns out i want to buy a good designed FF card next time. Suggestions? Or, alternatively - are there any easy methods to cool the cards better? What chips beside the tuner would have to be cooled? My bttv-card sits exactly on top of the saa7146 and has absolutely no problem dealing with that temperature, i blame the hardware manufacturer that it gets so hot in the first part at all (it is not even a LNB connected, it should stay stone cold) :-(

VDRAdmin doesn't display preview of channel

Hi, First of all thanks for excellent software! VDR is very good and I hope it won't stop its improving in the future :) Now about my problem. I've installed VDR and VDRAdmin using RPMs. Everything works fine but preview of channel on the page 'Watch TV' is not working. It displays nothing. I tried to find what is problem. As I understand VDRAdmin grab video as images and then shows them on the web page. I didn't see any error messages in the VDRAdmin log or VDR log. (the fragment of VDR log): Feb 15 21:26:30 localhost vdr: [3807] connect from 127.0.0.1, port 3035 - accepted Feb 15 21:26:30 localhost vdr: [3807] closing SVDRP connection So, everything seems ok but video is not displayed. VDRAdmin-AM autotimer problem

I recently upgraded from VDRAdmin 0.96 to VDRAdmin AM 3.4.3rc2. Great to see all new functionality such as Playing Today and Timeline. I have one problem though. I have autotimers for two consecutive shows on the same channel. With the extra padding before and after the shows they are overlapping. As I can recall this wasn't a problem in 0.96, timers were set for both shows and both were recorded. In 3.4.3rc2 timer is set for only one show, priority seem to have nothing to do with it since the later show which has higher priority is the one left out. TS buffer size

Something changed between VDR 1.3.34 and 1.3.42 which leads to a much higher rate of (apparent) TS read errors. I'm getting corrupted pictures and no sound with repacker error messages all the way with .42 or .43, while .34 is okay. This happens on two different machines with different hardware (FF vs. budget DVB-S card) and kernel versions. Can I remove the "Sort timers" setup option?

I would like to remove the "Sort timers" setup option to make things simpler in the "Timers" menu. Since IMHO it only makes sense to display the timers sorted by their start time (and priority) there's no real need to have this option. But I might be mistaken and somebody absolutely needs this. In that case, please "Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace" ;-) Klaus
