Hello Would it be possible to somewhat generate nfo file automatically with each recording? I know vdrnfofs which do it on-the-fly and I imagine such file could be generated automatically (optionally) with each recording. It seems very easy, because such nfo contains only title and plot. The idea after it is that vdrnfofs doesn't allow editing of nfo, while such nfo generated automatically by VDR could be freely editable. And also it would be possible to download fanart etc to recording directory. I know VNSI and that it works well with XBMC (allows for quite good scraping) but I would prefer offline metadata. There are times when I work on VDR switching it off and then recordings are unavailable for XBMC. If hardware brokes - VDR even doesn't start complaining for lack of hardware. And I can't fine tune my nfo file when scraper do something ot fully or wrong. Maybe it's idea for new plugin? Marx

why does the Makefile not install all include files

why does the Makefile of e.q. vdr-1.7.32 only install the includes from include/vdr include/libsi and not the dvb* and libhd* files ? vdr Makefile: # Includes: install-includes: include-dir @mkdir -p $(DESTDIR)$(INCDIR) @cp -pLR include/vdr include/libsi $(DESTDIR)$(INCDIR) ... softhddevice constantly restart VDR

Hello I try to use softhddevice. VDR on mipsel STB

Anyone know if there has been some work done lately on a port of vdr to the mipsel STB platform e.g. the Vu+ boxes. There are some reference in the mailing list from Alez and Franz Ks in may 2011 in the following thread. http://www.mail-archive.com/vdr@linuxtv.org/msg14386.html<http://www.mail-archive.com/vdr%40linuxtv.org/msg14386.html> I have gotten to about the same point as Alez of having vdr running with the vompserver plugin and are able to view freeview channels on both hauppauge mvp and raspberry pi clients. Franz Ks. however claimed in the thread to have osd and video/audio on his Vu+ using a slightly modified dvbufs9xx plugin. Information is very scarce however and I cannot find any information about how this was achieved. The Vu+ Ultimo is a very capable box that equipped with an extra dual dub-s2 card would be a nice silent, energy efficient and price worthy backend (less than 500€) with four tuners capable of recording/streaming 6 channels concurrently.

RFC: Adding CPPFLAGS to Makefile

Hello! Klaus asked me to put this up for discussion: At least Debian and Debian derivatives provide standard values for CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS/LDFLAGS/CPPFLAGS/FFLAGS. VDR's Makefile does not use CPPFLAGS (C-Pre-Processor flags) right now. Not a big deal and easy to work-around, but for the sake of providing a "standards-conform" Makefile I suggest adding CPPFLAGS as well. Please see the attached patch. It's only a suggestions and Klaus already indicated that such a change might not make it into 2.0.0, so please don't panic, that all plugin-Makefiles must be changed once again :-) bye, Tobias

VDR translation and msgstr size

Hi all, For a lot of msgstr translations (po files) the size are often lengthy. In VDR setup menu the sentences could not completlely appears. Many languages are less consice than English. How can we improve VDR to be better for this little issue... Maybe : - Abbreviate the translations - An option to change the width frame size in VDR Menu -> Setup - Scrolling horizontal line when selected - Always use English :-) Cheers, Bernard.

I'm replying to an old message, because soon I will have similar setup so I'm interested. :) I currently have two tuners with fixed dish to S1.0W, and third tuner with diseqc motor. I'm using diseqc.conf and the gotoxx patch, it works very well! However I'm adding fourth tuner soon. It will be connected to the motor dish too. I have been examining vdr's Device Bonding feature. If two devices are bonded and Diseqc is enabled, vdr will compare the diseqc strings of the already tuned master, with the diseqc string of the new channel on the other device. If they match, channel change is accepted. So basically it should work if you simply have same diseqc config for both bonded devices. However, there is a problem that also the polarisation and low/high frequency range is compared. This means that the bonded device is restricted to same polarisation and frequency range. HD Test clip(s)

Hi, Are there any VDR-compatible (I'm using e-tobi 1.7.29) HD test clips, available somewhere on the net or can s.o. provide one? For better comparisson with SD, the a clip from the German ARD- or ZDF-news would be nice. A few minutes is sufficient. Background for those who are interested: I'm using DVB-T based vdr since a couple of years now for in-house streaming to various devices. I plan to add a DVB-S card to support HD. I'd like to check if HD-streaming works with my current setup before doing the investment in a sattelite dish etc. Any other hints regarding what USB DVB-S receiver, sat-dish, etc. works well is also welcome. Device bonding

Hi! Now that I have a spare DVB-S2 tuner (TechniSat SkyStar USB HD (adapter2); the others on this box are atm Hauppauge Nova-TD model 1172 (adapter 0+1) and TechnoTrend S2-3600 (adapter3) - all USB) I decided to play with vdr device bonding. I discovered three things: (still using vdr 1.7.29, I know I should upgrade... :) 1. The LNB setup OSD menu causes bonding to fail (it's trying to bond a DVB-T tuner) if I set the two DVB-S2 tuners as "connected to sat cable 1"; it works with "sat cable 2". Maybe it somehow thinks of (one of?) the DVB-T tuner(s) as cable 1 too? 2. The infosatepg plugin doesn't check MaySwitchTransponder() and thus grabs a bonded device when it shouldn't, I just patched that in the FreeBSD port: (plugin maintainer Cc'd) http://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/head/multimedia/vdr-plugin-infosatepg/files… 3.
