Vdr server on Sheevaplug, channel listing corrupt with xvdr/vnsi plugins.

I'm not sure about my findings, but I still decided to share here and maybe get some feedback (positive or negative) in the matter. I'm running vdr server on a sheevaplug, archlinux, kernel 3.5.x. Vdr and plugins compiled using Archvdr team packages. When I will got a chance, I'll probably recompile this again and look for some warning. With streamdev server everything working fine, channel listing is perfect. With both xvdr and vnsi channel listing corrupt and partial, and no epg available. On x64/86 everything works fine. I'm pretty positive this isn't related to xbmc pvr api change nor xbmc addon, I believe it's server side related. As a non developer but little curious I did some code reading and found out both xvdr and vnsi uses the cCharSetConv function (xvdrclient.h) from vdr/tools.c, I'm not sure if the cause is there or not. Any thoughts on the matter? Anyone got a xvdr or vnsi setup on arm (or other non x64/86 system) based system with no such issues? p.s. I never understood how to proper use the mailing list system, any guide on the subject? mainly I didn't manage (using gmail) to get my reply added to an existing subject and not as new one. Thanks.

Since there where no comments on my previous e-mails have not been answerd yet, so sending it as a whole patch again instead of a simple patch upon patch ;) VDR currently assumes all remote controls have the same order of buttons. This is not always the case. This patch allows you to change the order of buttons in the UI. This feature obviously only works on patched skins. Classic, lcars and sttng skins are patched. Unpatched skins will remain to work fine, but will ignore button order. I tend not to bother trying most of the time!), I get both video and audio but after a while the video will freeze but the audio carries on. If I play back an HD recording, this will probably happen after a couple of minutes or so. Due to this, I didn't really both trying again until recently! I gave it another go when the olympics was on and BBC 1 HD played live fairly happily for hours on end. Every now and then the video would freeze but this could be fixed by switching to another channel and back (audio carries on quite happily otherwise!). The time between video freezes seems to be random so could be caused by an error in the stream that cannot be corrected, or something like that?! Every now and then, I update xineliboutput + libxine + ffmpeg to the latest cvs / hg / git source (and I can never remember which is which version control system!). I'm currently on all of those from near the end of July. I keep hoping it will suddenly "just work" but it hasn't really changed much in this respect that I can see. Also with vdr-1.7.29. For SD recordings it is much more stable although skipping multiple times in quick succession usually locks it up and requires vdr-sxfe to be restarted! It's a bit of a pain but I've (nearly?!) learned to live with that! Laz

VDR File splitting validation

Dear all, We are using vdr (1.7.21) to record from a DVB-T2 stream. File split quota is at 200MB. The broadcast stream comes with audio packets (data) roughly 2 seconds after then the video packets. They are in perfect time stamp sync (video-audio). It is just the data packets that are late in the data stream). Now, when VDR does the file split (after the quota has been met and a video I-Frame is about to start) the audio packets that would be in sync with the latest video frames before the split are actually being contained in the next split file. This creates me big extra workload, I want to be able to process the split files individually, but I cannot since they don't have audio-video integrity. What would it take to make vdr splitting smarter in this case, that is to only split the files after all the significant audio packets have been received as well? DVB cards and multichannel decoding

Hi all, I want to renew my VDR box with a new PCI express DVB-S2 card. I just want to know if a multichannel decoding card is necessary for the multiple recordings ? playing two audio streams at the same time

Hello, Is it possible today with vdr, to send one audio channel to the headphones and the other audio channel to the speakers (or another headphones)? (it wasn't possible about 4 years ago) Example: we watch a film recorded from Arte, and my wife wants to listen to the French, and I want to listen to the German audio channel. If it's possible, what version do I need at least and what must be configured? If not, what would be the effort for a VDR developer to implement such a feature (in hours, $, € or whatever)? Or do you know other free software for watching and recording TV, with such a feature? TIA for any hints! -- Peter
