Hi,
My brother is going to make a gift to me. An Onkyo A/V Receiver. This: http://www1.shopping.com/xPF-Onkyo_TX_SR501
Nice gift. Want to adopt me? :-)
I would know how can I integrate with my actual VDR box to take the maximum advantage of this features. I supose I have to install the bitstreamout plugin (i have an epia mobo with rca SPDIF audio output), and ac3mode?
If you have a full-featured card, you can connect a optical out to the pin 4 and pin 10 of the J2-Connector.
Look at http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Jumper2 You can easily homebrew a optical SP/DIF-Out like decscribed in this scheme: http://www.vdr-wiki.de/wiki/index.php/Bild:J2_anschluss_schema.jpg
If you're not familiar with a soldering-iron, you may also use a slot-bracket with SP/DIF from Asus. Maybe you can get one on ebay.
Recent VDR-version work out of the box with these outputs, older ones require the AC3overDVB-patch.
Regards, Roland
