Well, it was the first one - long before there even was a plugin interface.
Maybe this is worth another thought: In times of DVBAPI, Multiproto and S2API, a separated DVB plugin could easily be split into three flavors. And a core VDR that is no longer dependent on Linux kernel interfaces would be a lot more portable too.
