I really wouldnt care less, if the OSD on my Toshiba 42" FullHD looks ass ugly, so be it, just about anything, while developing VDR, is more important then HD OSD.
You are absolutely right, totally unimportant, but it can look so unbelievable good.
"Real nice woodgrain trim in cars" was used in some 1950's stationwagons. :)
I get still tears in my eyes, when I remember my 1978's Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova 1600 with steering wheel made from wood and leather all around.
