Nevertheless, the max length should be the same at all places, shouldn't it? ;-)
I guess what happened is that VDR replaced the channel number (wich is just one up to four-five digits) by the unique channel descriptor used in timers.conf. so the line became longer when it was written to file.
when read again, it was rejected...
