Hello
for a while (1.3.18?) i see channels in the channel list which can't exist. For example Source:"C" but i don't have DVB-C, only DVB-S and -T.
Deleting the false entries does not help: A few seconds later they are back at the end of list.

Why do i get/have all those "C-Cable" entries?

Maybe related, maybe not, but I'd like to know if the data vdr uses to update channels has the source in it or vdr uses the source of whatever channel it has tuned. I'm asking because, even if I disable the autoupdate while the dish is moving (Setup.UpdateChannels=0), sometimes I end up with channels in channels.conf with the wrong satellite.

When detecting new transponders (in VDR/nit.c), the source is determined from the NIT data, as in
int Source = cSource::FromData(cSource::stSat, BCD2INT(sd->getOrbitalPosition()), sd->getWestEastFlag());
When detecting new channels (in VDR/sdt.c), it uses the source it is currently tuned to, since I don't think that this information is contained in the SDT data.
But as long as you have set Setup.UpdateChannels = 0 nothing should be updated at all.

Deleting the wrong channels entry does not help, few seconds later it's back in OSD and some (how much?) time later they will occure in the file too.
I don't know exactly the moment the problem occurs, as i watch Sat.1 &Co. very very seldom, but i think when DVB-T was new (2 month ago) all was well. Then they changed the DVB-T transponder. VDR does not(!) switch to the new transponder(but generates thos "0:0:" entries IIRC). I have to edit the new transponder freq into the channels.conf, assuming VDR will line up.
Or what other way do i have to VDR that ther is a new DVB-T "transponder"? It seems not to scan on it's own.
BTW: It there a way to VDR not add "CA!=0" channels, resp. only those where the fitting CA is installed? Too would it be nice if VDR would not record 2h "black screen with 5MBit/s" because the wrong/expired CA is used, or worse reboots because of "videos stream broken" and breaks this way other recordings.
Klaus Schmidinger wrote:

When the dish has reached its target I will revert Setup.UpdateChannels to the original value. Maybe vdr is using some leftover data picked up while the dish was moving? Or maybe vdr picks up the data *before* I had the time to set UpdateChannels to 0 (which is done in cStatus::ChannelSwitch)? Anyway all of this will be history when you'll find time to look at issues with steerable dishes (as you promised ;-) )
As a side note: how do a standard STB cope with all the crap that the broadcasters are transmitting? I'm trying to clean-up my channels.conf and I'm frustrated, since there are channels that a channel scan won't find, while there are channels that are found but aren't there, not to mention channels that have gratuitously changed the channel id so they'll get a new entry for the same channel.

This is not a good idea, since there are channels that are encrypted only some of the time.

True, but VDR could add the channel only if *right now* it delivers data with the current CAM. This way, at least those channels that you can never decrypt (or that are ghost entries in the NIT) will never get added.
Carsten.

How can i reget the EPG info for those channels?
Or: How can i force VDR to scan on new DVB-T frequencies?

I removed all entries for the new transponder, removed the timer references because vdr would not start else. left the one entry with all zeros starte VDR tuned to that entry Got a back screen, but EPG a few seconds later the image occures and the other 3 channels were added by VDR.
Noting the new channel numbers stopping VDR copy back timers.conf replace all channel ID with channel numbers restart VDR.
That only to approx 2 h in real time...
Too i don't know what was wrong with the old channels table and if there are more such broken entries. (I found those only because i know they should have EPG)

ACK. I added "WEBCam:1:C0:C:0:160:80:0:2001:65002:0:0:0" When trying to switch while a recording was running, i got "channel locked by LNB"(That errorous LNB-lock occurs too when i try to switch the live stream to DVB-T while a recording is running (but recording can be stared on DVB-T!). After i terminated the timer and tryto switch to tha "Webcam" channel, i instandly got "channel not available". But to my surpirse: Suddenly i got further DVB-C channels!
Remember: There was an error tuning to that channel!

Hello
for a while (1.3.18?) i see channels in the channel list which can't exist. For example Source:"C" but i don't have DVB-C, only DVB-S and -T.
Deleting the false entries does not help:
After removing those "C"-entries VDR suddenly found 200+ new programms!
Did those "ghost entries" have blocked that scan?
Why does VDR copy "Sat" entries to "C" entries ignoring the fact, that the "channel is not available", because there is not even a DVB-C-Card at all! (Maybe "in the moment")
