I have just started using vdr and the web based interface and I am very happy with the results.
I wanted to ask what is the easiest way to get vdr recordings into xvid format?
Cheers,
Chris

You could try transcode [1], mencoder [2] or ffmpeg [3], they all support Xvid.

I recently contacted Klaus about something somewhat related to this actually. Although my inquiry was about the possibility of either storing vdr recordings in a format that is more common & friendly to the video editing/encoding apps (as mpeg-pes isn't), or perhaps adding more timing information so when you demux a mpeg-pes vdr recording, it has a much better chance of staying in sync.
