The problem with VDR crashing was due to the remote plugin trying to load a pre-defined remote control keymap after I had already loaded a keymap before starting vdr (hauppauge_grey.rc5). If I dont try to load the remote plugins' pre-defined keymap after manually loading a keymap, then VDR will not crash. I still can not figure out how to get VDR to train the remote keys using inputlirc though (it works with regular LIRC, but not inputlirc).
