I recently purchased a reciever capable of ac3/dts decoding. I've been doing some testing and I now have the correct config in xine to dump ac3 streams directly through my sound card to my reciever.
With watching dvd's in xine, I get an ac3 stream, however, when using vdr-xine (0.7.4) I only get PCM stereo.
VDR EPG info shows the audio as being DD.
I guess I'm trying to establish whether or not vdr-xine is altering the audio stream or vdr is altering the audio or my provider is lying by telling vdr that isa DD stream but its not??
Any pointers?
Mick.
Hello,
have you choosed the DD sound in VDR ?
At my place it work with vdr+xine :-)
Hi,
DD in EPG often is only 2 channel DD and not 5.1. In german TV Pro7 or Sat1 broadcasts most stuff like this.

Christian.

Well, no. I did not, what do you mean by chose the DD? Do you mean change the audio stream or do you mean the "Audio Mode" config setting in xine. I just discovered this, and now I can switch audio streams and hey presto, I have dobly digital (but Christian is right, its only DD 2.0. Grr!)
Now one more question if you don't mind.. My recordings don't seem to have DD stream in them. They were recorded off a different chanel though. Is there a config setting on recording audio streams? I hope my 24 (series 3) provider isn't killing my 5.1 stream :(..

He probably meant the one in VDR configuration menus.

See above. However, if you have DD working in livetv, IIRC DD is already selected. (DD is recorded always when DD is active in VDR setup)
