Hi,
Is it possible to use this FF card with sc plugin and share card with Technisat budget DVB-S card. If it is posible is there some restrictions like not possible to receive whole mux with FF card ?

sc can either be used with Technotrend/Hauppauge cards (it depends on the chip as you need a custom firmware), or in soft-decode on budget cards that deliver the full stream.

I have a CI module and a conax cam with Canal+ smart card. Is it possible to use sc with satellites other than Thor S1.0W? I have only one (ff) dvb-s card.
Can anyone provide a link to the custom firmware everybody is talking about?

Sorry, I do not use sc myself, and have no links either. You wont get any here I assume as the use of sc is not very legal in most countries....

I meant that I can view encrypted channels on Thor S1.0W with my (perfectly legal) ci/cam/smartcard setup already.
Someone might like to experiment with ca without making the existing hardware decryption unusable. Of course, one can always make two different setups, one with magic firmware and sc plugin in place, and another with the ci/cam/conax setup.

I am talking just theoretically and hypothetically. o:-)

I wonder why. The sc still needs the valid keys to decrypt, and according to its documentation is able to use smart card readers for reading them from the subscription card. Why would this be illegal?
If the HW decoding is the keyword and software decoding is "illegal", then I guess duplicating subscription cards should be legal, as long as they are used in STB:s with hardware decoders.
Could someone tell which countries have legislation that dictates that CA channels should be decoded in hardware and using software is illegal?

csa is protected by patents, it all depends if the EU directive will forbid or allow software patents. If software patents are allowed then it would probably be illegal to implement csa without a licence, OTOH if they aren't it should be perfectly legal to implement csa any way you like. Of course in the former case most of vdr would be illegal anyway....and in the latter softcsa should be a core feature of vdr insted of an ostracized one. IANAL anyway so don't take my words as if I were one.

Not a link but you can search with google for the irdeto4free board , in the DVB-S section of the board you find everthing you need
sc-plugin , softcsa-patch and a modded firmware 216d
hope it helps

Don't forget the ffdecsa patch, that does the same as softcsa-patch, five times faster (it has drawback, though).
