Hi all!,
Congratulations to Klaus and all the VDR community for the great 1.4 release of this great piece of software. Since few time ago I'm thinking about the possibility to view trailers that are in web pages with vdr without download. Normally are in quicktime, wma or real player. I have seen the stream-player plugin but it says that (intentionally) only supports mpeg2 streams. I don't have tried it. Anyone knows some method to do that I want? I want to say, see movie trailers from apple or any website with vdr like icecast audio.
Thanks.
As usually I answer myself. I supose that I want the vod (video on demand) plugin. It's correct?
Thanks!

Can you provide an URL ?
It's correct?
It depends on the output method you use. Maybe this is a new idea for the softplay plugin which works with softdevice (advantage over plain full-featured card : does not need to transcode the trailer in MPEG1/2 for the FF card to decode). Softplay currently only opens files. One could add the "open URL" facility...
Thanks!

For example:
Single trailer:
http://images.apple.com/movies/wb/happy_feet/happy_feet-tlr2a-h.ref.mov
Web page with windows media and real player trailers: http://www.terra.es/cine/
Don't forget the very interesting rss podcasting!!!. For example see:
http://images.apple.com/trailers/rss/newtrailers.rss
Thanks

I meant : the URL of the plugin itself, which I didn't know...
Here it is : http://famillejacques.free.fr/vdr/vod/
It seems to be what you're looking for. It also seems that it could drive the softplay plugin as it does with the mplayer plugin, with the "service" interface.
Sorry I have not understand you about wich url you want. I will try it in next days the vod plugin. About the softplay it's interesting but I'm currently using ff card for output. For my future installation of vdr I will need it. (big vdr server with thin clients)
Thanks again

Apple quicktime container. Can contain many different formats, starting from very simple old sorensen codec to HDTV content in h.264 (MPEG4/AVC). For trailers, its often ok to download and play these files. In this case, the file is a redirect to http://images.apple.com/movies/wb/happy_feet/happy_feet-tlr2a_h320.mov , so people have difficulties to locate the real file.
Your best chance are full featured big media players like mplayer, though only quicktime is guaranteed to work.
Cheers,
Udo

The vod plugin is available there: http://famillejacques.free.fr/vdr/vod/
The version I have (to be released soon) allows to see: - Video Podcasts (known as vodcasts or RSS 2.0 with enclosure) - Videos found through Yahoo video search - Shoutcast videos (Winamp)
It is easy to add youtube support.
The most difficult thing is to compile Mplayer with all the codecs needed :)
Olivier.

Very nice notice. I'll be waiting for this release to install this plugin. What about video.google.com video playing?
Thanks
