Hi list!
C+ are now starting up a new channel with films in HDTV format named C MORE HD on their Scandinavian feed from Thor. I'm interested in trying to record and later have a look at this. I've understand (and seen) that the FF cards are unable to handle the feed itself and I therefore need to get a budget card.
Now to the Q: Can the budget card use the CA inserted in the FF card in order to decrypt the stream?

No, that's not possible (AFAIK).
But a FF card might be possible to _record_ the stream, even though it can't _replay_ it. The limiting factor here is the MPEG decoder. Haven't tried this, though.

The followup Q would then be how? I've tried to use a timer to record the channel, but vdr shuts down.

Maybe the stream is encrypted?

Yep, it is. Is the bottleneck then that the decrypter of the FF card can't handle HD streams (or didn't the previous poster have a subscription)?

;) yeah,
But vdr found the parameters and added the channel to channels.conf. I'm just using that!
Anyway I've just ordered a budget card for some experimets.

I've read previous post regarding HDTV that xine is the way to replay HD material.
Please update me when you get the card. I'm very interested!
