hi,
This card is based on a sigma design chipset. Will there be open source drivers available?
ftp://66.15.209.17/EM8621L/ - there you will find the drivers; in all the sample files sigma has no gpl license used - so i'm not sure what the correct license is. the kernel module (em8xxx.o) loads as tainted/non-gpl. the vdr plugin will be opensource of course.
the card is available as a test version, mine has serial# "test-0018". also, sigma announced the successor already (em8622l), which can handle h.264 native (see also those premiere sends hdtv threads). the em8621l is only capable of h.263.
perhabs interesting: the allwell card has a spi in connector where a dvb tuner can directly be connected, for use as some kind of "hdtv-ff card".

It looks like this is for kernel version 2.3.46?

It seems that 2.3.46 is the version of the driver / app suite. I didn't find the environment yet.

Well, they appear to provide complete sources but that copyright notice doesn't unfortunately look too good :(
But, OTOH, I use proprietary nvidia drivers too.
