I have added a second dvb-s2 card to my vdr 1.7.21 box (for a total of 2 dvb-s2 cards, and nothing else)
The first card (adapter0) is connected to a motor and diseqc.conf reflects this:

Now the second card is connected to a diseqc 1.0 switch with 2 feeds (S5.0E and S0.8W)
How can I modify diseqc.cond so that vdr is aware that only the second card can get 0.8W and S5.0E can be accessed by both cards?

Try read file diseqc.conf included in vdr-1.7.21 source. There is written:
# A line containing space separated integer numbers, # terminated with a ':', defines that any following # DiSEqC sequences apply only to the given list # of device numbers.
So your diseqc.conf should be as:
