Hi,
This is a beta version of vdr which support dvb-s2. So this version is able to watch TVHD through a streaming plugin (streamdev plugin is include in archive).
http://www.freewebs.com/jlacvdr/vdr-s2hd/vdr-1.4.6-s2hd-070630.tar.bz2
The DVB-S2 channels must have 'M8' in modulation field of channels.conf, for example: ASTRAPROMO_HD:12721:hC23M8:S19.2E:22000:767:768:0:0:10202:1:1119:0
tested with: - linux 2.6.19 - TT3200 card (manu drivers and laasa patch)

I tried the diff file with vdr-1.4.0. Applies with a few offsets.
On tuning to: Sat.1 HD:12722:hM8:S19.2E:22000:511:515:0:0:10201:0:1119:0
I can see with a slightly modified version of the patch for pat.c:
for (SI::Loop::Iterator it; pmt.streamLoop.getNext(stream, it); ) { switch (stream.getStreamType()) { case 0x19: // advanced codec HD digital television service case 0x1b: //ISO/IEC 14496-10 Video (MPEG-4 part 10/AVC, aka H.264) printf("stream pid:%d (0x%04x) type 0x%04x\n",stream.getPid(), stream.getPid(), stream.getStreamType());

Looks like data gets not passed via remuxer to softdevice :-( .

Maybe not many guys are using dvb-s2 right now. Dunno how wide-spread it is in Europe but in NA it's not common.
Sometimes EUROPE is too slow with innovations, sometimes too fast...or both at the same time. LOL
I'am waiting for dvb-s2/h.264 support since 1 1/2 Years.....
I am happy about the first DVB-S2 Linux drivers and the possibility to record and stream that after that long time.
I am sure the next Steps (Full support of HDTV of the VDR Frontend etc.) are coming faster and faster.....
Greetings from Germany

Hi,
I am stil uncertain of what DVB-S2 Hardware I should buy. But if you can give me a hint, I go - buy - and watch Pro7 tomorrow in HDTV. I don't want to make an advertisement here, but it's easy for me to grab a SAT PCI-KARTE TECHNISAT SKYSTAR HD (Bestnr.: 941604) http://www.conrad.de/scripts/wgate/zcop_b2c/!?perform_special_action=Produkt...
Does it work? I use anways XINE as frontend .. so, I only would need to install the new card and apply your patch.
Thanks, Martin

Well, the next vdr-xine release will support it. It works here already, but the biggest drawback is that FFmpeg "lacks" interlaced H.264 decoding (PAFF, MBAFF), i. e. FFmpeg crashes after a few frames.
When I got it right on the FFmpeg-devel mailing list, it seems that interlaced H.264 decoding got a google summer of code 2007 project. So lets see what we get later this year.
Also, the multithreaded H.264 decoding sounds promising, as a single core cannot cope with 1920x1080.
Bye.
