I think it's great news, at last there will be decent hardware acceleration for AMD graphics, on a fully open source stack, and without front-ends needing to use a new API. I know there was already Intel and VAAPI, but that hasn't caught on as well as VDPAU for some reason.

That is cool news. Next question, which AMD APU will support temporal-spatial deinterlacing of 1080i at full framerate?
