Hi,
I've updated my enElchi skin for text2skin to a standalone one, soppalusikka, with a couple of new and neat features. The skin has been used in my VDR setup for a couple of weeks and haven't noticed any major bugs, so here's the first public release for newly released vdr-1.4.44:

The enElchi archives will be moved under soppalusikka.

It's a finnish term for a soup spoon. :)

Thanks for your new Plugin :-) There is also a Skinelchi Plugin available for some time. What are the reasons that you have made your own one ? They are looking nearly identical.

Skinelchi is too bloated for my taste with all those videostatus, ImageMagick etc. stuff (yes, I know they are behind compile flags), but I really wanted resurrect my work from ElchiAIO4 patches and get rid of external (graphics) libraries.

Nice, on my try to compile it under vdr-1.3.41 i'v got following
error "You don't exist! Go away! Upgrade yourself!" :)
But this is not the reason on my reply:
Rolf, do you think the config DIR is the right place to store the logos and themes files?
Feature Request on comming up Version.
Add all logos/*xpm and themes/*.theme to one directory maybe skinsoppalusikka/{themes/*.theme,logos/*xpm} end give the plugin a parameter to find the way to the skinsoppalusikka DIR in Example "-d /usr/share/vdr/skinsoppalusikka" per default This is easyer, then do always made a patch Orgie to korrekt the PATH on diffrent linux-distris.
Thanks, Cheers

You'll need 1.3.44 as the plugin has been modified to new "Aux" feature.

For my setup, yes. But don't worry there will be a command line option to specify the logo directory in upcoming releases.

Hi,
I tried the version 0.02 and although it seems to be working fine, I have couple of questions. First of all, there are no indication in the main menu display about a recording activity, if the recording was started by a timer. I looked at the source code and it looks like cSkinSoppalusikkaDisplayMenu::SetRecording should do that by adding a cTextScroller, but it isn't called at any point. Or am I totally mistaken?
One proposition I'd like to make is that you could somehow get this and the femon plugin to work together, so that the femon plugin could offer for example information about the aspect ratio of the current program which in turn could be added to the program information. Or can that be achieved by other means?

IMHO, there's no need to show background recording activity while surfing in menus, so I haven't implemented such a feature. I don't want my screen filled up with all the bells and whistles that add no real value.

Sure, I've been thinking about implementing some parts of femon into soppalusikka, but it would generate some drawbacks like slowing down channel zapping etc. You can always bind the femon plugin to some user defined key and you'll get the aspect ratios as easily as pressing the ok to bring up the default channel info.
Why you'd want the see the bitrates/aspect ratios/.. everytime you'll open the channel info? Just to verify that your visual cortex is still in sync with the video stream? ;)
If you absolutely need this kind of information, there's a video status feature in skinelchi plugin (but for FF cards only?).
..and then some general information: if you're are switching between themes, the some osd colors may fade to transparent until you'll reopen the menu - this is by design.

I, on the contrary, do like to see if the system is recording, and if it is, what is it recording. But it is your soppalusikka, so I won't fight about it ;)

Starting the femon plugin causes always a few seconds gap during which the screen turns black. So no thank you.

Why would I need any of the other provided bits of information either? Let's say I just like information :)

I was hoping that this would be a slighter solution than the text2skin + enElchi-skin which I am currently using (although I had to add the current recordings bar to the main menu myself). So I will just continue with that one then.

Well, the feature is also missing from my enElchi, but you could send me your patch (private mail, please), so I could check it out...

Heh. I'd prefer "keep it simple". Too much information stresses people ;)

It should be with many features as graphical timebars in menu and as I stated earlier, please, send me your patch.
