Hi,
I have 3329 entries, subdivided into 25 channel groups in my channels.conf.
The last group is of course the "New channels" group.
Every now and then I zap through it and file the new channels into the appropriate groups.
Of course, it is extremely hard to move a channel from position 3329 to any position in the first 24 groups.
It would be nice to have an easy way to "file" the channel directly into a specific group (simply at its end) like this:
* select the channel * press a key * a list of groups comes up * Use Up/Down (or digits for the first 10) to select * press OK
Is there such a feature (maybe as a plugin) already?
If no, would that be a useful addition?
How do other people manage large channels.conf files?
Thanks,
Carsten.

XXV (0.45+) contains a light weight channels editor, and since vdr-1.3.32 suppport channels moving via SVDRP/MOVC, it is a thinkable solution.
Maybe help this, Andreas

Gruss,
Carsten.
I apologize for the german post. This was meant to be a private mail.
Sorry. (Darn, the Reply-to header got me)

I give it back to the list cause others may also be interested
At first: you don't have to use autosort for the complete channels.conf as i see you mostly want to keep away channels you cant/wont watch so a strukture like
: manualy sorted - i want to watch : Auto Sort : picked out by some criteria - i dont want to watch : picked out by other criteria - i may want to watch : unsorted
could do at least the half job
can be catched with german:HasVPid:AudioLang=deu:CaValue=0:CaValue=1801 you may to have to exclude other ca's with "NotCaValue="
:Shopping Shopping-Kanaele.
Just possibly via "HasName=" Needs a higher priority than "german"
:MHP MHP Testkanaele.
no way ATM except via "HasName=mhp" i havent recognised any mhp-over-double here, give me some examples please
:Religion Siehe Shopping.
same as "german" but with lower priority
:Musik Mit meinen Mitteln empfangbare Musikkanaele.
well, that's an idea i will think about, thanks
:Sport Siehe Shopping.
:Astra Radio. Alle Astra Radiokanaele.
very easy astra radio:HasApid:HasNoVpid:HasSource=S19.2E
:hotbird TV Alle Hotbird TV-kanaele.
:hotbird radio Alle Hotbird Radiokanaele.
:HDTV HDTV Kanaele.
solved this with HDTV:Priority = 10:Order = 900:HasName= hd:HasName=hd :HasName=hdforum:HasName=1080:HasName=ntl1:SetCaFF:Sort
Confirmed, that seems to be not solveable
yes, but the most sport-channels contain "sport" in theire name, so with HasName=sport you'll get the half and can add the others with an additional "HasName="
I'll try

I dont own any cam, so i dont know if HasCaValue and HasProvider are enought for that but i would say so
further details you can take out of README.Config and the example autosort.conf just tell me if something's missing
happy new year to all
