Hello, I have been banging my head on trying to get my two ATSC cards to show content in VDR. I have applied the patch (http://www.fepg.org/patches/vdr-1.7.2-atsc-0.0.3.diff) and also the plugin found here: http://www.fepg.org/atscepgReadMe.html
However, the plugin does not lock onto any channels. I am able to use 'scan' and 'w_scan'. However, these scan tools does not seem to produce the correct channels.conf file format.
If anyone has made US OTA ATSC work, please provide some guidance. Thank you.

I know a few people who have been struggling with VDR+ATSC for quite a while. I've wanted to give it a go myself but not if it's a constant fight/hassle to have it running. Hopefully ATSC support will become a part of vanilla VDR at some point but I honestly don't think that's very high on the priority list. Doesn't hurt to ask however!
I don't have a problem with getting the channels as long as I use the built in scanner for the plugin, then move the data over to the channels.conf. What I have a problem with is I have a dual tuner and vdr keeps loosing control of one of the tuners. If it happens to be on the secondary when it looses, then it's the first tuner that goes.I don't need to restart drivers, only vdr/xine to restore it. I have also noticed that disabling the atsc epg plugin seems to stop the problem but the author only has one tuner, so no way to confirm/check the problem. If I ever get time to upgrade my other vdr box, it will have both the same dual tuner and a single atsc tuner and a sat tuner. I'll then be able to see if the tuner loss is just that card.
Be sure to use the latest atsc plugin

Yes, unfortunately I have 2 ATSC PCI cards and will be adding a HDHomeRun dual tuner, so I will have 4 ATSC tuners. If if does not work with more than one, then this will be a problem.

Are you going to be using the IP plugin to connect to the homerun? was thinking about that unit before I got the card and the only way I saw to use it was with the ip plugin

I have not thought about how to do it as yet. I was hoping to ask here as I am sure someone has a homerun going with VDR.
BTW - I got one US ATSC channel to tune with help from Alex. He modified one of my w_scan channel output and it worked perfectly.

I don't have one but am tempted. I would assume you would use vdr-iptv with the hdhomerun. What are the urls you call for vlc to get different channels?
Hi All, Where does VDR maintain the adapter to channel mapping? Thanks.

Unfortunately it doesn't support this feature. I wish it did however, believe me!

Actually it does, sort of. If the conditional access field in channels.conf contains value 0x1-0xF the it is interpreted as card number.
But if you use that you can't use it for cryption type. it's one or the other, not both.

That's completely insufficient. We discussed this topic a short time ago on the mailing list (and also irc also for some of us). There's several good reasons to implement mapping down to at least the sat&transponder level and no good reason not to. However, I don't think anyone is working on any solutions. There is sourcecaps but even that is too limited as it only goes to sat level, which isn't good enough (especially for North Americans).

Does ATSC EPG's channel scanner fail to find any channels? Or, are you unable to tune any channels using the parameters generated by other scanning tools?
I am able to tune channels using 'scan' and 'w_scan' tools. The built-in ATSC EPG channel scanner (which I believe has a static list of frequencies in the '.h' file) fails to find any channels.

To get a channel scan for atsc, best thing is to go into the plugins setup for the atsc plugin. use the scan there. Then go to the plugin config folder for atsc plugin and copy the data to your chanels.conf. Don't forget to shut down vdr while editing the conf

yes, I did that and all the scans are failing from within the plugin therefore it does not produce a file for me to copy the lines into the channels.conf file of VDR.
