Hi guys, please help me bcs I'm desperate. I had to re install completely my box and now everything is working but OSD !!!. I can't see menus nor any OSD on the xine screen.
I'm using: - gentoo linux, kernel 2.6.14 - I have a Skystar2 - vdr-1.3.38 - vdr-xine-0.7.6 - xine-lib-cvs-20050814180000.tar.bz2 - xine-ui-cvs-20050814180000.tar.bz2
I start vdr with: ./vdr -w 60 '-Pxine -r'
I'm using vdradmin to change channels. I can see this type of output. : vdr: osdflush: n: 3, 35.4 vdr: osdflush: n: 2, 28.2 vdr: osdflush: n: 2, 26.3 vdr: osdflush: n: 2, 26.1 vdr: osdflush: n: 2, 20.3
I've been three days looking for something similar in the web, in the list, everywhere, and I'm lost, can't solve it.
Please tell me if you need more information to try to help me.
Thanks a lot in advance,
Luis
Hi,
After doing more troubleshooting I came to the conclusion that the problem is just OSD don't showing on Xine, as everything else is working, even the remote, other plugins (like streamdev)... everything works.
As I cannot find a way to solve it with Xine I've decided to move to the vdr plugin SOFTDEVICE, which is working perfectly 'with OSD' :-)
thanks, luis

Two plugin has their powerful features. xine has powerful deinterlace engine. Softdevice is more stable and fast. Your choice
Hi,
Did you compile your kernel with CONFIG_DVB_AV7110_OSD flag? Check your kernel conf. This might be the problem.

Hi again,
After some days of troubleshooting the vdr-xine with lots of help from Reinhard Nissl we have found where the problem was. I wanted to update you just in case someone else suffers this problem.
The problem: - OSD doesn't work with vdr + vdr-xine (several versions tested)
Summary: - I run xine (or softdevice) on DISPLAY=:0.1 so the TVOUT of my NVidia (6800 LE) - OSD works if I run xine on DISPLAY=:0.0 (the monitor). - OSD works with softdevice - xdpyinfo output when run on DISPLAY's 0 and 1 doesn't show any major difference. - glxinfo run on DISPLAY's 0 and 1 are identical. Direct rendering is enabled
- The problem is on this line: ($HOME/.xine/config)
# OpenGL renderer # { 2D_Tex_Fragprog 2D_Tex 2D_Tex_Tiled Image_Pipeline Cylinder Env_Mapped_Torus }, default: 0 # video.output.opengl_renderer:2D_Tex_Fragprog
Changing the default to any of the other values lets OSD work. Either leaving it commented out or using 2D_Tex_Fragprog has the problem.
Unfortunately I found that the solution is CPU intensive (10% more) and the image has some flickering with fast images (than softdevice) so now I'm researching researching this and let you know if I find something. Looks like the default '2D_Tex_Fragprog' is the best one (in terms of speed)... but no OSD... so any idea is wellcome.
thanks again, luis

Is there a special reason why you use opengl as xine's output driver?
Please try running xine with "-V xv", which does a good job on my 6600 GT (single screen, single display setup). You may also want to experiment with "-V xxmc", which uses the hardware MPEG2 decoding support of NVidia chips.
Bye.
