When is support for subtitles going to be added to vdr?

I have been using the plugin made by Pekka Virtanen for a long time now and it has worked perfectly. Why can't that be made a part of vdr?

It somehow feels silly to have to patch vdr everytime I want to upgrade, when it could easily be included.
