Hello all,
I have few DVB-S channels with first (top) row of the video shown on the screen as a set of black and while pixels that definitely represent a digital information. I clearly see some counters running there.
The same channel broadcasting by local cable provider don't have that line shown. Do you think they intentionally hide that row? Or there is a problem with MPEG decoding for those channels in VDR?
Is there any way to auto detect and hide that row?
Thanks.

The broadcaster chose to encode this line which was part of the original video. So after correct decoding the line appears in the images.

Typically, this line is in the overscan area of the image. Simply zoom the video a bit and it will fall outside of the visible area.
In case you can receive this channel:
HD-Test ARD ZDF;IRT:11361:hC23M5O35S1:S19.2E:22000:6410=27:6420=deu;6421=deu,6422=Ori:6430:0:11140:1:1011:0
you'll see marks indicating overscan areas at 1 %, 2 %, 3 %, 4 % and 5 % of the image.
Bye.
