Hi,
my wife is hard of hearing and that is why we have permanently discontinued the subtitle in the vdr. But if she don't watch, I'll turn off the subtitle with the hotkey. When I switch channels, the subtitle is on again. Is there a possibility that the subtitles will not appear until the next restart of vdr? -- Greets Walter

Set "Setup/DVB/Display subtitles" to "no". When you want them to be displayed automatically again, set it back to "yes". You could add to you VDR start script that in setup.conf the line
DisplaySubtitles = 0
is changed to
DisplaySubtitles = 1
before starting VDR. You don't actually need to change that line, just appending
DisplaySubtitles = 1
to setup.conf will do.

Hi Klaus,
let me explain in more detail. The standard for subtitle is on in setup.conf. On the remote I press the Subtitle hotkey (value is cached and not written to setup.conf) to off. The subtitle is now off for the current channel. If I switch a channel or start a recording, the subtitle is back again. This behaviour is not wanted, because I disabled the subtitle before on the remote control. (temporarily off)
With other words, the aim should be: If I turn off the subtitle on the remote control, it should stay off until I turn it on again on the remote control. With a restart of vdr, the fixed saved value on is used.
