Hi,
I am using the xineliboutput plugin:
vdr -P"xineliboutput --nolocal --remote=37890"
and then connect to vdr from xine-ui with
xine "xvdr://127.0.0.1:37890#nocache;demux:mpeg_block"
as described in the plugin readme (http://users.tkk.fi/~phintuka/vdr/vdr-xineliboutput/README). This works, in principle, but I cannot control vdr via the keyboard from within xine, although it should work out of the box according to the docs. I have configured the keys both in vdr and in xine, so this cannot be the problem. Using the vdr-sxfe frontend that comes with the plugin, keyboard control works. Of course, I would prefer using xine-ui with all its functions. Can anybody give me a hint what's wrong or missing?
Thanks in advance, Eckhart
Hi Petri!
In the future, i will try and use your plugin with kanotix-vdr live-cd, because i must not patch libxine1. see http://www.pc-magazin.de/3330 (kvdr200601.iso downloaden)
I use your plugin for vdr and xine, but compared to the other xine plugin (from Reinhard), which requires a patched libxine1, display's NO SIGNAL yours don't - just black, thats not that good.
When someone just sees a black screen, it is not so good, maybe use a different image for radio stations.
One other thing would be cool: multiple clients to watch different tv stations - of course on same transponder or with more than one DVB card. Is that possibe or only using streamdev-client/server on a full VDR install?
The last thing i found: the Xine-Lib option allows to playback a movie only when used with localhost - it did not stream over net here. Also the picture viewer did not work at all.
bye Horst

Compile xine-ui with '--enable-vdr-keys' passed to configure.
I did. But it does not work.

I did. But it does not work.
I've just tested with 0.99rc5 and it works xine --stdctl "xvdr:udp://127.0.0.1:37890#nocache;demux:mpeg_block" then typing "menu" did work. i'll try to replace vdr-xine by xineliboutput this evening back at home.
I think i'll use xine rather than vdr-sxfe, osd and different aspect ratio seems to be handled better by xine. ( i did some tests with vnc :) i'll check again this evening in front of the TV )
Thanks Petri !

I tried that too, still no success. I really don't see what I am missing. I have (Gentoo packages) - vdr 1.4.1-r1 - vdr-xineliboutput 0.99_rc - xine 0.99.4-5
I also tried a self-compiled xine 0.99.4 (with --enable-vdr-keys configured), but still - no vdr reaction to keys pressed in xine.

hi, have you an ~/.xine/keymap for vdr-keys like this http://www.vdr-wiki.de/wiki/index.php/Howto_-_Streaming-Server_mit_Xine-Plug...

hi,
for me too, now i use xineliboutput (server-client) with xine-ui
if someone will test it with kanotix (=Debian Sid after Harddisk Install) http://www.pc-magazin.de/3330 see this HowTo http://mitglied.lycos.de/peterweber69/xineliboutput/README
Thanks Petri, great plugin

it works quite well. I'm using rtp/multicast since it happens more than 1 tv are used at the same time. I have encountered a freeze/bug with xine+xineliboutput. I did happen one time, xine froze and i had to kill -9 it. I'll try to find a way to reproduce it if it happens regularly.

i tested with 2 clients, used tcp (better for slow network). One xine client froze because the network (wireless lan) was to slow. After i used one client with 100Mbit Lan, all went ok. I used for 100Mbit Lan udp connection.
sirius, why does you use rtp? What is better?
bye Horst

I'm also using it on 100Mbps LAN. I use rtp because theoricaly it looks like the best way to have several frontends watching the same channel (even if ideally i'd like to be able to watch different ones).
atm i have encountered with rtp: - freeze, have to kill -9 xine. - lost of sound, have to restart xine and the sound comes back.
I'll give tcp/udp a try to see if I have the same issues.
