I have heavy cpu load (60 % - 80 %) when playing recorded programs whith kernels 2.6.11 (kernel 2.6.11-rc5 for amd64) with vdr 2.3.21 and vdr-xine-0.7.1. Whith kernel 2.6.10 there is no problem. Thanks. Jose Alberto

Is DMA turned on for your harddisks?

I had two SATA harddisks, one only for vdr and the other for the system. When I play the recorded programs with xine there is not problem. The load is when I play them with vdr. In live tv there is no problem. With kde system guardian, I see that the load is in vdr. Thanks Jose Alberto

I think so. See the attached log. Thanks. Jose Alberto

Not definitive: device resets may have occurred since (see dmesg's output and syslog). Also, as root:
hdparm -d /dev/sda hdparm -d /dev/sdb
(I *think* that that'll work. Only having PATA here, I can't check for myself...)
I still have the same problem with kernel 2.6.11 vdr 1.3.22 and vdr-xine 0.7.2 How I can debug the problem? Thanks. Jose Alberto
