Hello,
I have actually vdr 1.2.6 with a nexus-s and mediaguard cam-ci for canal+ working very well.
I'd to add a new CI device for tps, what is the protocol to do this ? Is there some one who have this on his box ?
Thanks.
Nicolas.

Works is on-going to get TPS with Twinhan/ Hercules card.
Currently I can de-scramble TPS with an SCM Viaccess card. But de-scrambling always stop after some time (between 30mn and 4 hours). Manu Abraham and I still have to figure out why.
Then, some adaptation will be needed in vdr to use Twinhan CI. Details are still not figured out.
If you're in a hurry, you might want to try another type of HW.

Can you please explain, why was it necessary to add a "new" CI device for TPS ? Maybe we already have it ?

The nexus-s is connected to a cam by large wire. One can plug two ci modules (pcmcia card) in this cam to descramble crypted channels. I plugged in an aston mediaguard ci-modules to descramble canal+ channels on astra (work fine), and I manage to connect an tps (hotbird) compliant ci-module to descramble tps channels.
I'd like to know what ci-module is compatible withe nexus cam for tps use ? and if there is any driver, patch to apply ?
I surch around and I did'nt find precise stuff.
Thanks.
Nicolas.

CI module compatible with a CAM ?
Or do you mean CI based card compatible with the Nexus CI module ?

But why do you need to create another /dev/dvb/caXX ?
Currently with some experimental stuff, TPS is working with Viaccess on a Twinhan VP-1030 under Linux as per my knowledge.

Sorry I mismatch CAM and CI, I want to know what CAM I must use with the nexus-s for TPS and how to install it. I read that for exemple red viaccess pcmcia module (CAM) is not compatible with the hauppauge nexus-s ...

AFAIK, the Viaccess Red is the only module for TPS.
I read that for exemple red viaccess pcmcia module (CAM) is not compatible with the hauppauge nexus-s ...
I don't have a Hauppauge Nexus-S, so can't help anything there..

Says:
Technotrend/Hauppauge fullfeatured cards So far, all CAM modules are supported by these cards

Good to know, because some stores specifies that the red viaccess ci is not compatible with hauppauge ans some other cards ...

Has anybody here a nexus-s with red-viaccess ci working ?
Nicolas.

The site says Viaccess Red does not work with a Hercules also. Which i don't think is very much correct..

I agree with you and I distrust this site's infos as they say that the aston mediaguard module is not compatible with the nexus but it works at home. But I prefer to ask befor to buy ;-)
Thanks.

Do you have more information on that ? I am maybe interested in a secondary budget card.
Thnaks.

There is nothing on that page that says that an aston cam is incompatible with any of the cards listed there. Where do you see this?
Besides, the Nexus-S is a fullfeatured card, and so the following line is valid:
So far, all CAM modules are supported by this card
If you can confirm that a CAM is incompatible with the Nexus-S or another fullfeatured Technotrend/Hauppauge card, feel free to edit the list.

On this link : http://www.bctech.fr/satellite/satmod1.html
MODULE PCMCIA VIACCESS ATTENTION Ne fonctionne pas avec Hauppauge,Hercule et Pinnacle
Means Warning, doesn't work with Hauppauge,Hercule et Pinnacle.
I can't confirm that is true, but I ask before to buy.
I can confirm that the same warning for MODULE PCMCIA MEDIAGUARD version 1.05 is an error, because it's working on my box since more than a year.
As there is people that confirm nexus-s and red viacess work together, I'll wonder if those people could tell me something about the installation of the ci (driver ... ). I'am running vdr 1.2.6.
Thanks.
Nicolas.

As i said, it is a bit experimental at the moment, but to get a sneak preview, you can take a look at the twinhan-exp branch at linuxtv.org.
cvs -z3 -d :pserver:anonymous@cvs.linuxtv.org:/cvs/linuxtv co -rtwinhan-exp
You can have a sneak preview of the documentation too. linux/Documentation/dvb/ci.txt

Don't know about the -S version but I have a Technotrend DVB-C 2.1 FF card that works just fine with Viaccess Red. A friend of mine has a Technotrend C2300 (reportedly identical to the Nexus-CA) running under Windows with a Viaccess Red. I don't think he has tried it with Linux, though.
All in all: it is incorrect to say that Viaccess Red doesn't work with Hauppauge/Technotrend cards. I don't know if it applies to all types of cards but at least it works with the cable versions...

Oh, you have to specify the dvb-kernel module, that's where all dvb drivers are. Sorry for the confusion.
