why not simply do a call to 'mv' (maybe in a separate thread with low priority)?

This is my plan ;) I'm working right now on the plugin but it can take some time for the next release because I rewrite the hole plugin.

well, my original plan here was to use it for moving old recordings onto some external device (i.e. usb disk or so) which obviously doesn't work for both reasons ...

i.e. it would require an empty dir to show up (which doesn't) to start moving something there, and it would require to be able to move stuff between filesystems ...

I think about a command-line-option to assign a list of directory-entries that will be shown in the list.
