Hi,
I'm the author of the plugin. You have to use a true color capable output device (i 'm using softhddevice, but it should also work with xine, or xineliboutput with HUD enabled) to run the plugin.
Cheers Louis

vdr: [8343] ERROR: cOsd::SetAreas returned 3 (bpp not supported)
I'm experiencing the same crash. I'm using xineliboutput and there seems to be some problem with truecolor OSD support.

Hi,
I've just discovered tvguide on vdr-developper.org. I'm running vdr 1.7.31. i followed the instructions, copied the themes files to $VDRCONF/themes. When i try to use the plugin I get nothing (osd goes away). vdr control doesn't work anymore so i guess the plugin is activated. And vdr segfaults when i press OK.
I don't have any channellogos or epgimages, the plugin is run with no option. The README file doesn't tell much about theses images anyway. (format, filename, examples files, etc... nothing)
vdr-tvguide-0.0.1.tgz seems to date from september, is there a public repo for this plugin ?

Ok. Thanks for the information guys. I don't know if my gfx card supports xrender/composite, i'll give it a try this evening.
is there a public repo for tvguide btw ?
Hi,
is there a public repo for tvguide btw ?
not yet, only the download area on http://projects.vdr-developer.org/projects/plg-tvguide/files.
For further development (next step will be to adapt tvguide to the "look" of skin nOpacity, usage of common design, channel logos, ...) i'll put it in a git repo on the vdr developers project site the next weeks.
Cheers Louis

Is this a plugin similar to yaepghd? Can users create their own themes/skins? So it _will_ support truecolor? When you add logo support, PLEASE add jpg logo support. I can't imagine anyone actually cares if a logo has transparency, and nearly all of the high color/high res logos I've found are jpg. Lastly, do you have any screenshots you can provide?
Thanks, Derek
Hi,
Is this a plugin similar to yaepghd?
More or less...the view is "mirrored", the channels are displayed horizontally, time vertically.
Can users create their own themes/skins?
Yes, all colors can be influenced by own themes.
So it _will_ support truecolor?
Yes :-)

Jpeg support for logos is already included, you can select between image extensions jpeg and png in setup.
Lastly, do you have any screenshots you can provide?
See this posts in the announce thread on vdr portal for some screenshots:

still i'm kind of worried, the plugin makes vdr crash very badly. I'm using xineliboutput, my vdr server is headless and I'm watching tv over the network using old laptops as TVs (heh no big display here, the bigger one is 15inches wide !!!) That means any non-hud-enabled client will crash vdr because of tvguide. Still I'm going to give this hud/composite thingy and your plugin a try ! That might convince us to upgrade :-)
