xxv generated a timer (via autotimer) which somehow got into timers.conf - I suppose xxv writes directly to timers.conf
Then vdr said
Apr 24 20:01:00 server vdr: [28378] ERROR: error in /var/lib/vdr/timers.conf, line 201 Apr 24 20:01:00 server vdr: [28378] max. latency time 0 seconds Apr 24 20:01:00 server vdr: [28378] exiting
Why does vdr have to exit? Can't it simply ignore errors in timers.conf?
this is the defect timer: Note that it consists of several lines separated by LF.

You assume a wrong state, xxv use SVDRP for read and write timer....
So I should find out what exactly xxv has sent to vdr via SVDRP. This is not in the log files, and I cannot reproduce this. Too bad.
My illegal timer actually contains an EPG description from a timer I never set. Strange.
The question remains why vdr has to abort when encountering illegal timers.

That should never happen. I think you use a obsolete or a wrong version ...
1st) vdr 1.3.44+ use description field never more 2nd) xxv 0.60 and prior use the correct "|" to replace LF 3rd) current svn release of xxv is ready to use a up to date release from vdr
BTW: xxv 0.70(next beta) coming soon

Well, out of 235 timers just 2 had this problem. This is a correct one: 1:S19.2E-1-1073-28206:2006-04-25:0655:0735:50:50:nano~Die Welt von morgen:* Zwischen Traum und Horrorvision|* Wurzelsperren und Freiraum gegen Sch<E4>den am Asphalt#~AT[16]
BTW the 2 defect timers had text from other EPG events. But I never set timers on those other events. Since I cannot reproduce this, maybe the problem is somewhere else like a defekt filesystem...

Is "nano..." the description field? So xxv 0.70 will not transmit this description? I guess that should resolve the problem.
2nd) xxv 0.60 and prior use the correct "|" to replace LF 3rd) current svn release of xxv is ready to use a up to date release from vdr
vdr 1.3.46, xxv 0.60. Are they incompatible?
BTW: xxv 0.70(next beta) coming soon
great! Will there be debian packages on e-tobi?
